When designing a portable amplifier, it is almost impossible to use ÄOPs while achieving a high voltage and output current. Some engineers use a TPA6120 chip on the buffer stage to reach 750mA in output current. However, this implies an output impedance of 10 Ohm which is not ideal for the use of IEM or low impedance headphones.

Based on this observation, Ibasso has chosen to use discrete components usually found in larger amplifiers. The design of the device is therefore more complex, but this method allows a higher current and output voltage to be achieved, while maintaining a low impedance and ensuring very good measurements.
