This ready-to-use version is aimed at audiophiles who want to equip themselves with a foolproof amplification solution, with a considerable power reserve as well as impeccable linearity. PURIFI modules are among the most rigorous Class D amplification solutions on the market, with measured performance that is simply outstanding.
The ensemble offers a high level of sound reproduction that will be suitable to accompany demanding loudspeakers, to soundtrack large listening rooms or for studio applications requiring considerable headroom without compromising on the precision and richness of the audio message.
All the components are integrated in a sober and robust 100% aluminum case with openings and radiators to promote heat dissipation. Its design also allows it to limit the impact of interference on the signal.
Three PURIFI 1ET400A modules
- Each channel of the amplifier circuit uses its own PURIFI 1ET400A module. These high-performance Class D amplifier circuits each offer a very comfortable 200W of power into 8Ω while taking advantage of the high efficiency of Class D amplifiers.
- The 1ET400A modules feature a high gain loop of over 75dB across the entire frequency range, providing high performance across the entire spectrum, surpassing any amplifier of any class.
- The HPA-T400ET's high level of intermodulation distortion (IMD) allows the HPA-T400ET to deliver a precise stereo image across the entire spectrum for enhanced clarity, even during the most complex musical works
- Harmonic distortion (THD) is kept extremely low at all power levels. This translates into an absence of sound signature and an ability to reproduce all types of music without coloration.
- The output noise is negligible, which allows deep silences and favors the appearance of details when listening at low volume.
- The circuit benefits from a high level of rejection (PSRR) that minimizes the impact of the power supply on audio performance.
- The load-independent frequency response makes it possible to take advantage of all the qualities of this amplification technology even with the most difficult to drive speakers.
- Low idle power and electromagnetic radiation (EMI). The high gain loop significantly relieves the workload of the MOSFETs and allows them to operate under optimal conditions, reducing losses and EMI emissions.
- The HPA-T400ET sees these amplifier modules connected with a specially developed interface board for optimal integration.
HYPEX SMPS1200A400 Power Supply Module
The SMPS1200 is a very high efficiency power supply capable of developing a nominal power of 1200 Watts in an extremely small footprint. It has been specifically designed and developed by HYPEX to provide the 2 x 64V voltage needed to operate the most demanding amplifier modules.
This quality, low-noise power supply meets the power requirements of the amplifier modules in every respect. In addition, the amplifier modules themselves have an excellent ability to reject power supply noise. The HPA-T400ET is therefore extremely insensitive to imperfections in the power supply and to voltage/current variations that can cause noise.
Audiophonics Driver Board
The amplifier module Purifi is driven by a controller module of our design.
A Audiophonics OPA1656 per channel is used, these are very low distortion AOPs offering the greatest transparency with a very low THD. They are mounted on socket allowing their replacement if necessary
To suit all applications, we've opted for four gain settings, switchable via jumper on the underside of the unit.
This device is supplied set for a 230V AC supply voltage. If your mains supply is 110V AC, please select this voltage using the switch on the underside of the device before plugging it in.
Connectivity
Designed for easy integration, the HPA-T400ET has three XLR inputs and three RCA inputs. These inputs are ideal, especially for a home cinema audio system, in order to install a stereo system with an additional center channel. On the output side, BP-207 Carbon / 24K Gold insulated terminals Ø5.5mm ensure an excellent connection with the speakers. A trigger module (Jack mono) allows the amplifier to be switched on automatically from a distance. The latter is compatible with voltages from 5 to 12V.
This amplifier's trigger needs to be used with a mono trigger cable (sold separately).

Fantastic
This thing is crazy. I've never in my life heard a quieter amplifier. Well, the Bryston 6B SST I had was pretty close. But that was a $6000 amplifier (and until now was the best power amp I've ever owned). Holding my ear next to the speakers, the only thing I can hear is a very quiet ticking in the ribbon tweeter from (what I assume) is EM noise in the environment (speakers are Elac Carina). That ticking is inaudible from 5 cm away. The typical amp hum is absolutely non-existent. Listening the music (Beck's Sea Change on SACD) is enlightening. I haven't upgraded my surrounds, which are active Tannoy Reveal 6D speakers. Listening with my ear next to the speaker, and the Tannoys have a distinct sound, while the Purifi-driven Elacs sound like... nothing. Just incredible. I've never heard, in my 20 years as an audiophile, a more neutral speaker+amp combination.
Also, the packaging was exceptional, and if you're a minimalist like me, the amp is just glorious. Sturdy, clean design. Feels great in the hand. Binding posts are so sexy I wish I had a reason to use them more. A flawless amp, and worth every cent. Congratulations Audiophonics (and Purifi)!
* One negative: The courier left the package outside my door. This is not acceptable for a 2k€ item. I mentioned this to Audiophonics, and they replied that they'd report it to the courier. Naturally, this is not entirely their fault, so I didn't consider it when rating the amp.
