This Connex kit, comprising a 500W Class D CxD500 Mono amplifier rated at 4 ohms and its switch-mode power supply SMPS600RXE, gives you a solid base for all your powerful amplification needs. Based on the IR2092S controller and IRFB4227 MOSFET transistors, this amplifier delivers impressive power in a compact package. A built-in anti-"ploc" system enables the module to be switched on and off silently. It is necessary to attach the aluminum heat sink to the housing to improve dissipation.
This module requires a DC supply voltage in the range +-62V to +-86V for the power stage, a DC input voltage of +-18 to +-28V 20-30mA for the input stage and a separate voltage, referenced to V- with value in the range 16V to 25V at 40-50mA for the driver stage. The appropriate power supply for a CxD500 amplifier module to obtain 500W power at 4 ohms is the SMPS600RXE module from CONNEX.
SMPS600RXE : Switching Power Supply 600W / +/-72V
The Connex SMPS600RXE switch mode power supply is a very high-efficiency model capable of developing a nominal power of 600W in an extremely small footprint. The SMPS600RXE incorporates overcurrent protection which limits the output current to around 120% of the maximum peak power (760W), equivalent to around 800W. The version supplied is +/- 72 V. It also features a low-consumption differential output, +-24V at 200mA, and a low-consumption 24V 300mA output.
The main feature of this power supply is the absence of heat sinks for both power switches and rectifier diodes. The amount of EMI is lower than any conventional power supply, and could be compared to a linear regulated power supply.
