An incredibly effective amplifier module...

The module TDA8954SMPSv2 from Connex is a Class D amplifier based on the TDA8954 amplifier chip. This one is able to deliver not less than 2x170W under 4Ω or 2x90 under 8Ω. Mounted in BTL (bridge), the output power is 340W at 8Ω.*

*These powers are measured at a THD lower than 1%.

This amplifier combines the benefits of a Class D, namely a high efficiency of around 93% at 4Ω with audiophile sound quality. The amplifier gain is 30dB asymmetric and 36dB BTL.

The amplifier accepts either balanced or unbalanced input signals, with a choice of input signal wiring. In addition, the amplifier has a Mute function and has a status LED.

The module also has overvoltage, overcurrent and short-circuit protection.

Caution: it is highly recommended to put the amplifier module in contact with the Aluminium box or with a radiator. The amplifier chip is located on the lower part of the PCB for easier mounting.

Connex integrates an efficient SMPS power supply directly on its module. Thus, you will only need to supply it either with 230V AC or 115V AC (jumper on the PCB for the latter voltage), at 50 or 60Hz.

The power supply has been specially designed to provide the necessary power to the amplifier stage in a clean manner. Thus, it will promote the quality of sound reproduction.

The efficiency measured from the main power supply to the speakers is 87.5%, at a voltage of 230V and an output power of 360W 8Ω in BTL mode and with a THD of 1%.

The power transistors and rectifier diodes of the power supply stage do not need a heatsink due to the high efficiency of the power supply.
