Dan Clark Audio Noire X Headphones Circum-Aural Closed-Back 13Ω 94dB
Dan Clark Audio's Noire X is a planar magnetic circum-aural closed-back headphone. A direct descendant of the AEON, this headphone incorporates an updated driver as well as the AMTS metamaterial frequency response technology usually found on much more high-end headphones. The result is a sound reproduction of stunning quality, with a soft, distortion-free timbre.
Dan Clark Audio Noire X: Acoustic meta-materials AMTS
One of the key points of the Noire X is undoubtedly the integration of the AMTS frequency response control system. This system, previously found in much more high-end headphones, uses advanced meta-materials to shape the frequency response of the headphones. This method has the dual advantage of allowing very fine adjustment of frequency response, while at the same time eliminating high-frequency standing waves, resulting in a more balanced, nuanced and airy final soundstage.
Dan Clark Audio Noire X: Planar magnetic driver
The Noire X takes the driver from its predecessor AEON and improves on it. This new version has a much stiffer diaphragm and is the result of a rethought manufacturing process coupled with V-Planar modeling. The result is a low-distortion planar magnetic driver with a smooth frequency response and natural timbre.
Dan Clark Audio Noire X: Wearing comfort
Particular attention was paid to wearing comfort when designing the NOIRE X. The headband used distributes tension evenly to reduce fatigue. The ear cushions, meanwhile, have been redesigned in line with the brand's previous headphones to offer maximum comfort. They are made of Alcantara synthetic suede to reduce the build-up of heat and moisture during listening, even during extended sessions.
Dan Clark Audio Noire X: Gorilla Glass 3 finish
Moreover, the NOIRE X is also aesthetically pleasing. It boasts a minimalist finish using Gorilla Glass 3 technology, a thin sheet of alkali-aluminosilicate that makes the glass stiffer and more resistant to scratches and breakage than conventional glass compositions.
Subjective experience of NOIRE X is stellar: every reference track I played put a smile on my face. It feels like I am wearing super high quality, full range studio monitors strapped to each ear! Objective data backs that, pleasing both sides of my brain! It is my pleasure to recommend the DCA NOIRE X.
