First and foremost, it's important to underline that planar magnetic technology is at the heart of the Ananda Nano. As a reminder, this technology is based on the complete covering of the membrane by the voice coil, so it vibrates uniformly, greatly reducing phase distortion, widening the soundstage and enabling more precise spatialisation of sound. To this principle, Hifiman adds a nanometre-thick diaphragm, reducing distortion furthermore and improving dynamics as well as the detail of sound reproduction.

One of the specific features of planar magnetic headphones is the positioning of magnets on both sides of the diaphragm, so the presence of these magnets can interfere with the sound produced by the diaphragm.
