Headphone Isodynamic Closed Circumaural 30 Ohm 4Hz - 92kHz
Meze offers with the Liric a magnificent high-end isodynamic headphone, using very high quality components in an optimized assembly leaving no room for chance. Each element is thought to allow the headphones to deliver a sound reproduction of an exceptional musicality and precision.
Result of a new collaboration between Meze and Rinaro, the Liric proved to be a real design challenge for both companies. Challenge taken up with brilliance, the Liric imposing itself as a new standard in the audiophile world.
Meze Audio
For the past 10 years, Meze Audio has been developing audiophile headphones and earphones, renowned for their timeless design, comfort, and vibrant sound. From design to technology, Meze products are designed to transcend all passing trends and become true collector's items that perform as well as they look. Today, founder Antonio Meze and his skilled team design and develop their products in Baia Mare, Romania, in the spirit of their original vision: "no compromise".
Rinaro Isodynamics
Rinaro originated in the USSR (now Ukraine) during the Cold War as part of a state-funded acoustic technology research program. With government support and access to advanced test facilities, the team was able to focus all its efforts on planar magnetism. A field in which it has continued to innovate over the past 30 years, since the collapse of the USSR. Over the past decade, Rinaro has expanded its capabilities and expertise by developing state-of-the-art R&D and manufacturing facilities in Ukraine and Poland. These new facilities have been a driving force in the creation of the revolutionary Isodynamic Hybrid Array technology found in Meze Audio Empyrean, Elite and Liric headphones.
The Liric headphones benefit from Rinaro's state-of-the-art technology, redesigned for everyday use. The MZ4 Isodynamic Hybrid Array driver has been scaled down and tuned to provide an audio experience comparable to its larger counterparts, such as the Empyrean and Elite.
With its closed design, it preserves the original clarity and emotion of your music through enhanced sound and reduced outside noise. Each speaker is completely hand-assembled and tested in Rinaro's manufacturing facility in Ukraine.
Housing
The reinforced polymer housing is designed to withstand the demanding 10.7N load generated by the hybrid magnet array.
Isoplanar diaphragms
The diaphragms of the Liric weigh only 0.08g and have a large active surface of 3507mm².
Hybrid Magnet Array
Placed balanced on either side of the diaphragm, the neodymium magnets are arranged in a hybrid array to create an isodynamic magnetic field of 0.3 Tesla, necessary for uniform activation over the entire surface of the diaphragm.
The Liric is the first closed-back headphone to feature Rinaro's Isodynamic Hybrid Array driver. Created exclusively for Meze Audio, the MZ4 driver features the same dual-shaped coil array as the Meze Empyrean. More than 30 years of research and development went into developing this technology, resulting in one of the lightest and most advanced planar magnetic drivers on the market. A new innovation of the MZ4 speaker, developed in itnerne by Rinaro, is the Phase-X™ system, which improves spatial ambience and sound imaging, often considered a problem for closed-back headphones.
Ultra low distortion
THD measured below 0.15% over the entire frequency range.
Extremely lightweight
Combined speaker weight of 71g, to create a headphone that offers comfortable listening on the go.
Phase-X™ System
Enhanced ambience and sound imaging through innovative technology. Patent pending.
Ultra high resolution audio
Upper limit of reproduced frequency of 92000Hz.
Versatility
100dB @ 1mW/1kHz; 30Ω
Can be powered by almost any portable power supply without requiring amplification.
Hybrid Array isodynamic technology
One of the world's most sophisticated and advanced planar magnetic technologies has been reduced for portable use. Patented in the United States, European Union, China and other countries.
The MZ4 driver combines individual spiral and curved oval coils on the same diaphragm, allowing for a more precise dispersion that is perfectly matched to the shape of the ear, for greatly improved acoustic performance. Using this combination allows the headphone to achieve increased exposure of direct sound wave frequencies in the 10kHz range, as well as improved imaging and localization, by reducing the impact of short wave delays caused by diffuse field reflections.
Switchback coil
The switchback coil is more efficient at reproducing low frequencies and is positioned in the upper part of the speaker.
Spiral coil
The spiral coil is better at reproducing the midrange and high frequencies. It is positioned directly above the ear canal, allowing the more direct sound waves to enter the ear without any delay.
The diaphragm is made from a custom-developed, thermally stabilized isotropic polymer with a conductive layer. Unique processing methods have resulted in an ultra-lightweight, yet rigid diaphragm.
At frequencies above 10kHz, where the length of the sound waves is less than the internal cavity of the ear cushion, the sound field becomes diffuse with an amount of direct and reflected sound waves in the ear canal. A significant increase in direct sound waves was achieved by positioning the most effective part of the diaphragm in the mid-high frequencies directly above the ear canal, which allowed for improved 3D imaging and spatial localization.
An innovation of the MZ4 speaker is the Phase-X™ system created by Rinaro to minimize phase distortion problems typically found in closed-back headphones. This patent-pending technology allows for immersive sound imaging.
Registration of the original source
Absolute linear phasing provides the listener with the original spatial image, as recorded. This includes information from the instrumentation as well as from the recording environment itself.
Non-linear phasing
Phase distortion, usually found in conventional closed-back headphones, significantly affects the reproduction of the spatial image of the original recording.
Phase-X™ System
With the addition of the Phase-X™ system, the Liric achieves a correct phase response and a faster decay of the transient response. This allows for a more faithful reproduction of transient sounds and improves ambience and spatial imagery for the listener.
New to this Liric is the use of an EAF (Ear Pad Air Flow) system, developed by Rinaro, which reduces the weight and size of the Liric headphone by optimizing its acoustic volume.
Precision-cut vents from the earpiece chamber to the earpieces allow the MZ4 speaker to utilize the acoustic volume of the earpieces as well as the earpiece chamber.
This dramatically reduces the size required for the headphone chamber, allowing the Liric to maintain a compact and truly portable closed-back headphone profile without compromising acoustic performance.
The Liric uses a magnesium structure that provides excellent flexibility, shock resistance and oxidation resistance, while ensuring excellent support and comfort even during long listening sessions.
The headband's padded pads are placed in a balanced "+" shape to allow for proper air circulation and reduce heat and moisture build-up. Covered in genuine leather, the headband fits snugly for optimal pressure distribution. It follows the shape of the head.
The choice of an angled ovoid shape for the earcups proved optimal for tightly surrounding the ears, without adding unnecessary pressure or weight, while providing deeper sound and better passive sound isolation.
A perfectly fitting vent allows for a more controlled airflow, a better pressure level in the ear cups and an airy, transparent, detailed and natural sound.
