Discover Audio Science Review's test of the FOSI Audio V3 integrated amplifier. The V3 from Fosi Audio is a small, powerful and affordable amplifier featuring a host of high-quality components. In fact, a TI TPA3255 amplification chip enables it to develop up to 2x 225W of power at 4 ohms, so it can drive energy- and power-hungry speakers to sonorize a large space. Moreover, this little audiophile jewel is equipped with Elna and Wima capacitors, as well as a logarithmic volume control for much finer volume management. To top it all off, two NE5532 OPAs complete the amplification circuit for a beautiful coloration of the output signal. These OPAs are DIP8-mounted for easy replacement in case you wish to implement your favorite OPAs such as MUSES02, AOP2604AP or AOP2134PA, for example. On the rear panel of the V3, you'll find the essentials, with an RCA input, a main output on speaker terminals and a 3.5mm jack pre-out. All in all, the Fosi audio V3 concentrates on the essentials and manages to deliver top-level performance.
Stereo Class D amplifier TPA3255 2x225W 4 Ohm
Distortion is well maintained at -100 dB, limiting noise and allowing the SINAD to be around 88 dB. This puts the Fosi V3 ahead of most of the amplifiers tested in comparison.
The Fosi Audio V3's noise performance is very good for its class, with an SNR of 91dB at 5W power and up to 102dB at maximum power.
In terms of frequency response, a fairly flat curve can be observed with a 4 ohm load. However, with an 8 ohm load, a load dependency is observed, which tends to make the sound brighter or a little dull around 20 kHz. This load dependency can be corrected with an equalizer.
"The Fosi Audio V3 is a Class D amplifier featuring quality components integrated into an aesthetically pleasing case for a very attractive price. In terms of noise and distortion measurements, it beats many amplifiers on the market, and is therefore one of our recommendations!"
