The cable "THE HIGHLANDS" of the brand Canadian 1877 PHONOallows to connect your reading arm with connector5 Pinson a Phono preamplifier with RCA plugs *.

Resolutely Audiophile in its design, it is especially useful for connecting old record players to our modern equipment, leaving them an additional chance to amaze us by their inimitable analog sound.

Sat the top of the 1877 PHONO line, the HIGHLANDS is distinguished by the use of 4 pure silver conductors with an individual diameter of 0.40mm, insulated by means of a thermoplastic film TefLON-FEP of origin Dupont.

This second material, of French design, is renowned throughout the world for its excellent chemical resistance , hisexceptional electrical properties , and hisincredible thermal resistance (-240 to + 205 ° C). In addition, Teflon® FEP is a flame retardant productproven efficiency, which gives it a ASTM certification D-3418.

This first isolation is backed up by a shielded copper screen , himself enclosed in a Aluminum / Mylar stripvenato improve the immunity of drivers against radio interference(RFI) andelectromagnetic (EMI).

Come next2 individual PVC sheathsreinforce the "physical" protection of drivers while providing flexibility and flexibility to the cable as a whole PET antistatic coating(Polyethylene Terephthalate).

The black PVC outer sheath provides greater resistance to the harshness of the outside world. It is covered with a superb black and green nylon sheath which, with the solid beech partition box , gives the HIGHLANDS an inimitable cachet.

Connectors also show the manufacturer's zeal, and his propensity to always use the best: Thus the 5-pin DIN plug consists of non-magnetic copper plated with fine gold 24k andTeflon insulated , excuse the bit ...

The RCA are not left behind and also benefit from a 24k Gold and Teflon Insulation . Finally, it should be noted that each link is made using welding containing 5% silver.

*NOTE :This cable does not allow to connect a turntable to a conventional line input (CD, TAPE, AUX ...). To operate, it requires an inputon RCA sockets of higher sensitivity, generally accompanied by a ground connection, and leading to a correction filter in accordance with the RIAA standard. This type of input is generally labeled "PHONO" or "TURNTABLE" on integrated preamplifiers and amplifiers.

1877phono “The Highlands MKII” phono cable.
I like it when any new device inserted in my setup makes a difference, as happened with the “Highlands”, the music flows through the cable naturally, without compressions and with any kind of music.
I read somewhere that this cable wouldn't be the most suitable for progressive rock or heavy metal, I can't disagree more... everything I've used it for (F. Zappa, Alex Harvey Band, Colosseum, King Crimson, Slade, L. Zeppelin , Pink Floyd, Johnny Cash, J J Cale, Jean Luc Ponty, John Coltrane, Cesaria Evora, Johnny Hartman, Nina Simone, Keith Jarret, Pat Metheny, Jan Garbarek, Miles Davis, Dixie Gordon, Beethoven Symph nr II, Pavarotti, Mozart Symph nr 41) and much much more, he delivered everything resolved and naturally.
My phono stage offers a generous sound stage in its three dimensions, what the “Highlands” does is occupy the entire space in a holographic way, with space between the musicians and perfectly located on the stage. More than once, I experienced “seeing” the brass section at the back of the stage and about 1 meter above it.
This cable is fast and very resolved, it has a lot of tonal balance in the mid-range, the bass is tense without fat on the edges, the treble is top-notch but could have a little more extension here, but nothing serious. Anyway, the presentation of the musical pieces is very consistent, very natural and without showing any signs of compression even when the music become complicated. At this price this cable is a bargain.
The only thing I have to say is that “Highlands” showed the limitations of my phono stage... but I already knew that, eheheheh.
Congratulations to 1877phono for the development work
Congratulations to Audiophonics for making us known
