As this DAC does not have its own clock, it must be associated with the interface module I2S to USB XMOS X10-I2S. In the same way, it must also be associated with the regulated linear power supply X10-PWR, which can itself be powered by this 40VA 2x15V toroidal transformer + 2x6V.
DAC Module I2S PCM1794A 24bit 192kHz AOP 6x NE5534P
This X10-DAC module will allow you to enjoy a powerful DAC with I2S input, while being compact. Thus, you can upgrade your DIY audio system based on a Raspberry Pi and offer it new possibilities.
Already used in many other DACs, the PCM1794A conversion chip from Texas Instruments will ensure quality sound reproduction to your system. Indeed, this one is known to provide a sound at the same time dynamic, warm and soft. The chip supports files with sample rates up to 24bit 192kHz. In addition, this X10-DAC module ensures a DNR of 127dB and a THD+N of 0.0004%.
This small module integrates no less than 6 AOP NE5534P also from Texas Instruments and mounted on DIP8. Because of this mounting, it will also be possible for you to change AOP to enjoy a sound that would better suit your listening.
In addition to the PCM1794A D/A converter and its 6 NE5534P AOPs, the module also includes other quality components. These include WIMA film capacitors, "Low ESR" electrolytic capacitors and gold-plated RCA subbases. Nothing is left to chance to ensure a very good sound reproduction.
The X10-DAC has only one I2S input and one RCA stereo output. By coupling it with the X10-I2S module the DAC gains in versatility by also equipping itself with a Coaxial, Optical and I2S output and a USB input supported by an XMOS xCore interface. Moreover, this X10-I2S module will also make it possible to make the DAC autonomous to be able to operate it without Raspberry Pi.
