The DA-8 module Audio-GD features a 24 bit DAC based on resistor network. It benefits from the manufacturer's deep knowledge of devices achieving decoding via discrete components with a high frequency correction CPLD.
This particular construction allows to significantly reduce distortion while maintaining an affordable price (the correction algorithm of the logic circuit compensates resistors tolerance). Integration with CPLD also allows native decoding of the DSD without requiring additional components likely to cause avoidable noise.
The DA-8 is found in plethora of audio devices GD (R-2R 11, R28, R22). This version gives access to the DIY DAC R2R high-end technology in discrete component to all uncompromising music lovers.
This item is sold by the pair. One pair can be used to build a single-ended circuit. Two pairs can be used to make a balanced circuit.
This is the 2020 version of the DA8 module. This version has three separate I2S inputs (Previous version had only two). The source can be selected using a jumper or a three-position selector switch (see configuration drawings below on this same page).
Moreover, it is now possible to reverse the output phase in order to adapt to balanced / unbalanced configurations.
The module requires low power to operate (+ 3.3V (+/- 5%) / 50mA). Audio-GD has a HiFi quality class A power that can direcctement connect with DA-8. The latter ensures separation of power supplies between the analog circuit and the digital circuit.
It is possible to connect one or two power supply units to a pair of DA-8 in order to obtain a single-ended stereo DAC.
Similarly, we can connect one or two power supply units to a double pair of DA-8 in order to obtain a balanced stereo DAC.
Sample Configuration NOS with USB interface Amanero
This is the easiest to pull a result of high quality fast and efficient configuration. A DA-8 module handles the left channel and another DA-8 does the right channel. therefore it is conceivable real DAC high resolution dual mono R2R backward crosstalk (pollution between each channel) by physical separation (a mono DAC by totally separate channel).
The analog output of this scheme is fully pasive voltage with a current stage of resistors and capacitors.
Example of standard setup NOS Stereo
A DA-8 module handles the left channel and another DA-8 does the right channel. therefore it is conceivable real DAC high resolution dual mono R2R backward crosstalk (pollution between each channel) by physical separation (a mono DAC by totally separate channel).
The analog output of this scheme is active with a buffer on OPA conventional voltage configuration.
