This DAC module is based on a high-end ESS ES9038PRO conversion chip. This document contains details about the transmitted signal, which results in infrequent timbre and harmonic quality.

A module particularly supplied with quality components

The ES9038PRO is supported by many high quality components, contributing to the quality of its sound reproduction. So we find on the 4 low noise NJM 5532DD / 5534DD PCB mounted on DIP8 (and therefore modifiable), LM317T / LM337T / 7805-CT voltage regulators and strong> 2 LDO low noise LT1963 . All this contributes to providing a stable current and a clean signal for a careful reproduction. In addition, a 100Mhz clock drastically lowers the jitter, always with a view of sound fidelity.

Complete connectivity

The module benefits from a complete connectivity that will satisfy most needs. There is therefore an input I2S to adapt according to his needs, as well as a coaxial plug, an optical plug and the possibility of adding a Bluetooth module to take advantage of remote transmission. In output the module offers a RCA Stereo, but also a balanced XLR output, much rarer on this type of module.

Modular thanks to the I2S

This module has mainly been thought to be associated with an excellent Amanero I2S / USB interface or an I2S / USB XMOS interface  to deliver an exceptional sound reproduction. Of course, it is also possible to take advantage of the I2S to use a different interface according to your needs. The module also allows you to add a Bluetooth receiver with a dedicated connector.

A complete DAC

To function effectively and enjoy all its features, the DAC is accompanied by several accessories. There is therefore an LCD screen capable of displaying, for example, the active source, the sampling rate, the signal format (DSD or PCM), the type of filter or the volume. To make these settings a panel with 3 buttons allows you to act on each parameter.

Montage ultra simple, très belles performances surtout en symétrique
Tellement simple à monter que s'en est un peu frustrant. Utilisé via un
AMANERO Combo 384, aucun problème de connexion sous linux, utilisé en connexion directe Alsa via Audacious, ou sans conversion avec la dernière version de pulseaudio (11) via le webplayer de Qobuz, j'obtiens un rendu bit perfect sans soucis jusqu'à 192kHz.
Le son est très bon via la sortie asymétrique que j'ai utilisée via l'ampli AUDIOPHONICS K214 V2 sur un casque HD800. Ampleur, douceur, précision.
J'ai testé la sortie symétrique en direct, sur le même HD800. La puissance est suffisante pour répondre à mes besoins, mais pourrait être un peu limitée pour certains utilisateurs, il faudra alors prévoir un ampli adapté. L'image stéréophonique s'ouvre et prend beaucoup d'ampleur, la légère tendance à la sibillance dans les hautes fréquences disparait.
Il me reste à jouer avec d'autres interfaces usb ou d'autres AOP, pour faire le tour de la bête.
