AK4497 DAC
With this second version of the S6 series, Aune proposes a DAC / Headphone Amplifier based on the excellent conversion AK4497 chip by AKM. The device has a relevant and qualitative connectivity for seamless integration into your audio system.
A 32 bit DAC allows access to very high resolution files. The USB input supports high resolution file formats up to 768kHz and native DSD512. The coaxial input supports 384kHz / 24-bit and DSD128 (DOP). The optical input 192kHz / 24-bit. Finally, the AES manages PCM DSD DOP128 and 384kHz / 24-bit.
Each channel (stereo) has the advantage of having its own preamp circuit. This ensures excellent stability of the signal on the balanced and unbalanced output with a well defined sound stage. The device has been measured crosstalk -132dB with harmonic distortion (THD) @ 1kHz 0.0005% and a dynamic range to 119dB (118dB SNR).
Headphone amplifier
S6 Pro combines one of the most efficient DAC models with an amplification circuit constructed around a preamplifier / proven helmet channel. The helmet front amplification stage results on a output jack 6.35mm and an analog output on XLR.
Symmetrical XLR output delivers up to 405mW with a 300Ω load while the jack asymmetric 6.35mm output can deliver 120mW at equivalent load. A large power reserve that can power hungry helmets.
Connectors
With an impressive array of connectivity, the S6 Pro has a digital AES / EBU input, one coaxial port as well as an optical input.
The USB-B port can connect the S6 Pro to a computer or even a smartphone / tablet OTG compliant to enjoy with a wink to the rest of the chain without sacrificing audio quality.
As output, the S6 Pro offers the option of unbalanced RCA stereo XLR balanced stereo. It may well be connected to various types of audio devices and different degrees of complOutputy.
