FiiO K5 Pro
Headphone Amplifier AK4493 XMOS XUF208 32bit 768kHz DSD512
The FiiO K5 Pro is a high-performance desktop DAC and Headphone amplifier combo, featuring an exemplary design for audio reproduction characterized by high transparency, richness and precision..
A concert right at your desktop
With the K5 Pro you can enjoy an extremely realistic and detailed musical experience, revealing all the subtleties of your music. The K5 Pro bridges the gap between your computer, active speakers and headphones in an extremely simple way to transport you to your favorite artists.
Naturally gifted at decoding
The K5 Pro's circuits benefit from an improved clock management system and excellent decoding capability. For this purpose, an interface USB XMOS XUF208 is used. It incorporates a brand new clock synchronization system and supports high sampling rates up to PCM 32bit 768kHz and DSD512.
Get truly faithful music reproduction with digital inputs
Regardless of the equipment used, digital audio inputs have the advantage of inheriting the integrity of the transmitted signal to accurately reproduce it. The K5 Pro allows you to enjoy digital audio with its S/PDIF Coaxial and Toslink Optical inputs supporting sampling rates up to 192kHz. The K5 Pro can actually be used with many audio players and digital interfaces.
New generation DAC
The K5 Pro reaches new heights in audio reproduction with high-performance DAC sound AKM AK4493 using a 32bit conversion architecture and proprietary technology VelvetSound. The left and right channels are processed independently and directed to a different output, providing a level of detail to the K5 Pro to truly reveal your music.
High-performance audio architecture for high fidelity sound
The K5 Pro's amplifier stage has nothing to be ashamed of when compared to the competition, its circuit offering enough space to integrate the components necessary for excellent analog amplification. This 4-level circuit is capable of delivering incredible sound fidelity with the use of second-order LPF, analog volume control and voltage amplification. Each part of this circuit works in perfect harmony, offering an excellent dynamic range and a very good resolution.
Extremely precise volume control
The volume control of the K5 Pro uses an analog NJRC NW1195A chip with a very low output noise measured at -118dB and the ability to adjust the sound level in 0.5dB steps. The combination of this volume control with the excellent AOP JFET TI TPA6120 and OPA1642 contributes greatly to the restitution quality of the K5 Pro.
A safe and robust external power supply
The FiiO K5 Pro uses a 15V DC power supply design specially designed to reduce noise levels. The received DC signal is filtered by a second power supply which then independently supplies the amplification circuit and the other audio circuits. This design effectively removes the ripple from the power supply and minimizes the crosstalk of the power supply between the two main sections of its circuit. This architecture provides greater stability and lower noise, which are essential to provide high quality audio reproduction.
Volume control on ADC
The K5 Pro features an ADC, allowing it to enjoy a line input on RCA with adjustable volume level. To do this, it reconstructs the analog volume curve to allow a smooth and accurate adjustment while eliminating unwanted noise and potential balance problems. This design also allows the use of many helmet models with different sensitivities with the K5 Pro.
Gain adjustment
Source selection and gain level adjustment are done simply with two switches on the front of the K5 Pro. For gain, the unit offers 3 settings: low, medium and high. This setting allows the K5 Pro to be used with a large majority of headphones and earphones on the market for comfortable volume listening. When a low gain is used, a fully hardware circuit is used to ensure that the dynamic range and overall audio fidelity are not affected.
Robust aluminium housing
The all-aluminium housing is polished several times via CNC and carefully finished with anodized and sandblasted treatment. It effectively protects the K5 Pro's circuits from dust and shocks while giving it a sober and modern look. In addition, its compact size allows it to be easily integrated into a complete system.
A real personality
The massive metal knob beautifully integrated in the front of the K5 Pro allows comfortable control of the volume level. The circular LED indicator surrounding this volume knob lights up in different colors depending on the sampling rate of the file being played, while adding a touch of color to the sobriety of the case.
- Blu light : 48kHz or below
- White light : Above 48kHz
- Green light : DSD
Easy settings
The selection of source and gain is therefore simply done via the front switches with clear and legible marking. The meanings of the serigraphs are as follows:
3 Gain level :
- Low: 0dB
- Medium: +6dB
- High: +10dB
3 Inputs :
- S : SPDIF
- L : Line
- U : USB DAC
Powerful headphone amplification
The finely tuned headphone amplifier circuitry increases the output power of the AOP TPA6120 by more than 60% for a total power of 1.5W at 300Ω and up to 20Vpp at 300Ω The K5 Pro will fit most headsets without any problems, whether they have low or high impedance.
Line RCA Output
While it has a complete panel of digital inputs, the K5 Pro also includes a line input on RCA. This is not only more robust than between line input 3.5mm Jack format but also allows you to enjoy a better audio resolution. The RCA Line Output signal is adjustable up to a maximum of 2Vrms allowing the K5 Pro to be used with both active speakers and external amplifiers.
To use the RCA Line Out, unplug your headphones connected to the 6.35mm jack.
An ideal companion for your DAP
The K5 Pro can operate with a DAP using a USB-C / Micro USB to USB-B adapter. Your DAP thus functions as a reader and benefits from the decoding quality of the K5 Pro as well as its ability to accompany high impedance headsets.
