This excellent DAC / ADC converter is the evolution of the GT40 from the famous FURUTECH brand.

This time, the GT40a Alpha is equipped with new converters capable of 24bit 192kHz playback via USB-B Class 2.0, as well as 24bit 192kHz analog recording and digitalization. In fact, it features a Cirrus Logic CS4270 DAC/ADC chip. It is thanks to this chip that it also converts analog signals to digital. The GT40a Alpha lets you record analog signals in high resolution or play digital files via a lot of streaming platform such as Deezer, Spotify, Youtube or Qobuz.

As a true audio multi-function device, it features an RIAA Phono preamplifier for turntables, as well as a Maxim MAX9722A headphone amplifier. The advantage here is that it can amplify signals from MM and MC vinyl turntables and digitize them via a computer.

For the GT40a's headphone amplifier stage, it has been upgraded compared to its ancestor the GT40 (higher current capacity): it can drive headphones from 16 to 300 ohms, and the line output level is now raised to 5Vrms to easily drive active loudspeakers or power supplies.

In terms of appearance and connectors, this is a top-of-the-range device, with gold-plated Teflon-insulated RCA connectors and a high-quality aluminum chassis.

All in all, the GT40a Alpha from the renowned Furutech brand is a three-in-one device, fulfilling the functions of DAC/ADC, phono preamplifier/recorder and headphone amplifier.
