With its NEO iDSD 2, iFI Audio unveils an improved version of the NEO iDSD, fulfilling the functions of DAC / Preamplifier / Headphone amplifier. The NEO iDSD 2 is one of the first DACs to integrate Bluetooth aptX Lossless technology, a Bluetooth codec capable of exchanging streams in CD quality. Versatile and high-performance, the NEO iDSD 2 can be used in a variety of ways: DAC/headphone amplifier, pure DAC coupled to an integrated amplifier, or as a DAC/preamplifier for active speakers or a power amplifier. This version of the NEO iDSD boasts vastly improved output power compared to its predecessor. This enables it to drive the most demanding headphones on the market, or to be coupled with a power amplifier.
The NEO iDSD 2 incorporates the latest Bluetooth 5.4 technology, enabling it to accept the aptX Lossless codec. This codec enables the exchange of high-resolution lossless streams up to 1200Kpbs. In fact, the aptX Lossless codec uses a compression method that in no way degrades the original information. All this is made possible by the new Qualcomm QCC518x Bluetooth receiver chip. Of course, it also supports Bluetooth codecs aptX, aptX Adaptative, LDAC, LHDC/HWA, AAC and SBC.
The NEO iDSD 2 is capable of delivering an output power of up to 5551mW (@ 32 Ohm) on these headphone outputs. In fact, the headphone amplifier stage has benefited from numerous improvements, including the addition of a circuit based on the technology used in the brand's Diablo headphone amplifier. Thanks to its output power, the NEO iDSD 2 is capable of driving the vast majority of audio and IEM headphones on the market. In addition, the new XSpace and XBass analog processing modes, plus 4 digital filters, let you fine-tune NEO i DSD settings to suit your headphones and listening preferences.
Thanks to its base, the NEO iDSD 2 can be positioned either horizontally or vertically. This can save space on your desk, for example. The new integrated 2" color display automatically follows the orientation of the NEO iDSD 2.
The circuit design of this DAC / Preamplifier / Headphone Amplifier features PureWave technology: in other words, a dual-mono circuit design, with the shortest possible signal path to achieve very low noise and distortion, and extremely pure sound. The result is SNR >120dB(A), DNR -120dB(A) and THD+N < 0.0015%.
Support for 32-bit 768kHz PCM, native DSD up to DSD512, as well as DXD (Digital eXtreme Definition, used by SACDs in particular).
Thanks to the BurBrown DAC, PCM and DSD formats each have an independent path, enabling them to be processed "bit-perfect" without altering the signal.
A 16-core USB XMOS interface enables 2000MIPS clock processing with 512KB buffer memory.
Jitter eradication technology is built into the NEO iDSD 2's digital stage, comprising a precision femtosecond clock and an intelligent memory buffer. This out-of-the-box digital solution gets rid of jitter problems once and for all.
A Burbrown chipset has been chosen by iFI Audio to process audio signals in "bit-perfect" mode. The result is rich, natural sound reproduction.
The NEO iDSD 2 supports MQA (Master Quality Authentificated) streams via its USB input up to 384kHz. This means that the entire "three-stage" decoding process is carried out by the iDSD 2. We're really talking about MQA decoding here, not MQA rendering.
The brand has equipped the amplifier stage with a customized OV series operational amplifier. This first-rate component contributes greatly to the NEO iDSD 2's performance: extremely low noise, low distortion (0.0001%) and wide bandwidth.
A MOSFET transistor is used as a mute switch. In other words, it absorbs sound-damaging noise and interference when a setting is changed during playback of a track.
