DAC Preamplifier Headphone Amplifier Bluetooth 5.0 MQA XMOS Balanced 32bit 768kHz DSD512
The iFi Audio Neo iDSD is a high-end DAC, preamplifier and headhone amplifier combo offering many features and excellent audio performance. The support of Bluetooth 5.0 or MQA files, the integration of balanced circuits, a particularly complete connectivity and rich and detailed sound reproduction make this Neo iDSD an ideal companion for high quality listening.
The Neo iDSD has 3 modes of use. It can be used as a pure DAC by connecting it to a built-in amplifier or external preamplifier, while using the fixed level analogue output.
It can also function as a DAC combo and preamplifier with variable output level and thus directly accompany a power amplifier or active loudspeakers.
Finally, it is possible to use the Neo iDSD as a headphone amplifier thanks to an excellent amplification stage and a dual balanced and unbalanced headphone output.
At the heart of the Neo iDSD's digital/analogue conversion stage is a Burr-Brown DAC chip capable of decoding high-resolution streams. This chip is associated with a 16-core XMOS microcontroller, which efficiently processes the data transiting through USB and SPDIF. In addition, a high-precision femtosecond GMT clock to eliminate jitter, as well as a memory buffer and GTO filter for optimum performance.
The Neo iDSD uses only high-end components to promote excellent performance. Even the OLED display is designed so that no electronic noise interferes with the audio signal.
The iFi Audio Neo iDSD supports high resolution files up to 32bit 768kHz PCM, DSD512 and DXDx2. It is also capable of decoding MQA (Master Quality Authenticated) files to ensure playback as close as possible to the original recording.
Embedded with a Qualcomm QCC5100 chip, the Neo iDSD is equipped with Bluetooth reception. This chip also supports the aptX, aptX-HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX LL, LDAC, HWA/LHDC, AAC and SBC codecs for full compatibility and to ensure excellent sound reproduction, even over Bluetooth. In addition, the Neo iDSD is capable of storing up to 7 devices.
The balanced analogue circuit design reduces noise and crosstalk in the signal path by completely separating the left and right channels.
PureWave is a new symmetrical dual mono topology with short, direct signal paths. Its name refers to the purity of sound it achieves through exceptional linearity and infinitely low noise and distortion levels.
High quality components are used throughout the circuit, including ultra low distortion operational amplifiers, TDK C0G ceramic multilayer capacitors, MELF resistors and Murata and Taiyo Yuden inductors. Their state-of-the-art qualities, such as low ESR (Equivalent Series Resistance), high linearity and low noise, result in excellent sound quality.
MQA (Master Quality Authenticated) is supported via USB and SPDIF inputs, with full decoding of MQA files up to 384kHz, thanks to the computing power of the XMOS chip. The 3 decoding steps are directly performed by the device.
The Burr-Brown True Native chip allows you to enjoy perfect bit files for sound reproduction that matches the original recording. Burr-Brown chips are also known for their natural and musical sound signature.
The 16-core XMOS chip processes audio data received in USB and SPDIF. This new low-latency microcontroller has greatly improved computing power and delivers twice the clock speed (2000MIPS) of the previous generation, while having 4 times more memory (512KB).
The digital stage of the Neo iDSD incorporates technologies that significantly limit jitter, including a femtosecond GMT clock and an intelligent memory buffer.
Built-in OV operational amplifiers contribute to an extremely low noise and distortion level (0.0001%) while ensuring a wide bandwidth.
