DAC ADC Amplificateur Casque Symétrique SteadyClock FS 768kHz DSD256
The ADC / DAC RME RME ADI-2 Pro FS converter is the combination of several professional quality devices in a single enclosure. An extremely compact device with very interesting features, excellent technical performance, clear and transparent sound reproduction and two extremely powerful headphone outputs.
The RME ADI-2 Pro FS in a few key points:
Extremely versatile, the ADI-2 Pro FS offers balanced and unbalanced inputs and outputs, two Extreme Power headphone outputs, a SteadyClock III, hardware input and output level control, DSP-based signal processing, external power supply, USB input and support for sampling rates up to 768kHz in PCM and DSD recording and playback up to DSD256 (11.2MHz).
The ADI-2 Pro FS features two servo-symmetric analog inputs on XLR / Jack 6.35mm TRS combo connectors, two separate balanced and unbalanced outputs on XLR and Jack 6.35mm TS, two Extreme Power stereo headphone outputs on the front panel and an ADAT-compatible optical SPDIF input/output. The device also includes SPDIF Coaxial (RCA) and AES input/output (XLR) via a 9-pin splitter cable provided. This complete panel of inputs and outputs allows this ADI-2 Pro FS an impressive flexibility of use.
The USB-B 2.0 port offers full compatibility (UAC 2), including the ability to connect iOS devices. This USB port also allows you to update the device's firmware. The ADI-2 Pro FS uses an external switched-mode power supply with lockable connector but can also be powered by a battery for mobile use.
As a computer interface, the ADI-2 Pro FS offers a stereo mode (2 inputs / 2 outputs) and a multi-channel mode (6 inputs / 8 outputs). Mac OS X compatibility is native. On Windows, simply install the RME MADIface drivers for full ASIO and WDM compatibility.
Aiming for the most neutral and faithful sound possible, every detail of the ADI-2 Pro FS has been designed and adjusted. The main PCB has a 10-layer design with copper circuits, guaranteeing undisturbed sound and allowing efficient power supply to the different stages. Internal power stages and high-precision controllers use a very low-noise design to avoid degrading performance on the power rails. The selected SoundPlus operational amplifiers maintain high SNR, low THD and high scanning speed in all situations. The entire analog circuit is symmetrical, balanced and DC coupled. The only capacitors in the signal path provide DC protection at the analog input connectors and have been carefully selected to avoid any impact on the sound.
The 4-channel Analog-to-Digital (ADC) converter, supporting 768kHz PCM and DSD recording, is used in a dual mono design with an improved signal-to-noise ratio of 3dB. Two premium DACs are used for two separate stereo outputs. Internal audio processing using equalizers, crossfeed and spectrum analysis is provided by a high-performance 2.17 Giga FLOPS (2882 MIPS) DSP, delivering enough computing power to operate even at sampling rates of 768kHz.
For ease of use, a high quality SRC (Sample Rate Converter) chip has been added, switchable to AES or SPDIF inputs, eliminating any potential clock problems. The latest version of RME clock technology, SteadyClock III, ensures perfect jitter reduction and a stable clock signal, whether you use internal or external clocks.
RME has integrated into its ADI-2 Pro FS many unique features not available on other devices on the market, such as a 5-band parametric equalizer, bass/treble level control with quick access, binaural crossfeed, adjustable loudness filter, selectable ADC/DAC filters, 4 discrete I/O levels, automatic reference level adjustment, automatic balance mode and much more. The display not only allows you to check the device, but also displays warnings and advice.
Professional features are also available, such as Mid/Side processing, stereo width and phase inversion management to full control and storage of all available parameters, such as the RME spectrum analyzer, a 30-band biquad filtered analysis tool that provides a perfect complement to the high resolution IPS display.
RME engineers have designed a headphone output stage to take full advantage of the DAC conversion quality, including the use of low impedance headphones. The Extreme Power architecture allows an output impedance of only 0.1Ω, a maximum output level of +22dBu and an output power of 1.5W per channel. The two completely separate headphone outputs provide an SNR of 120dBA and a THD well below -100dB (0.001%) even at full power for detailed, accurate and clear reproduction. Extreme Power technology also includes a current limiter, power monitoring, overload detection and overvoltage protection. High or low power modes are also available, allowing the ADI-2 Pro FS to work with both IEMs and planar headsets.
With 2 stereo headphone outputs, the ADI-2 Pro FS can also be used in balanced mode. RME has developed a new advanced symmetric operating mode for the ADI-2 Pro, eliminating many of the limitations of a standard symmetric link. This advanced balanced mode delivers a balanced signal directly from the DAC to the headphone outputs with a 3dB gain at the SNR, an optimized frequency response, an extremely low output impedance (0.2Ω) and a maximum output level of +28dBu.
The ADI-2 Pro is the reference ADC/DAC converter, USB DAC, USB interface and RME headphone amplifier. Its many application possibilities make it an excellent choice for a wide variety of applications, whether it is for the individual who appreciates innovative and high quality solutions, the sound engineer looking for a reference ADC/DAC converter or the audiophile looking for a flexible solution that integrates a high-end headphone amplifier.
With the SteadyClock FS, the ADI-2 Pro FS incorporates the latest RME clock and jitter reduction technology. Based on a femtosecond clock, SteadyClock FS technology reduces the jitter of the ADI-2 Pro FS to an extremely low level.
The ADI-2 Pro FS also integrates the AutoDark Mode of the ADI-2 DAC. It is thus possible to deactivate the lighting elements of the device if necessary, with the exception of the ON/OFF button, whose lighting makes it possible, particularly for use in the studio, to always know whether the device is in operation or not.
A test bit is used to check the reading path and detect any undesirable changes in the reading data. The playback software can remove bits, add noise or generate level variations that are sometimes difficult to hear. Similarly, a poorly programmed driver or poorly designed or damaged equipment can affect the integrity of the signal. The bit test thus makes it possible to test and identify all these potential factors that can degrade sound quality.
The test bit file can be downloaded from the "Download" tab of this product sheet.
