Sabaj's A20d DAC and headphone amplifier is back in an improved version for 2023. Its digital/analogue conversion stage is now based on the use of two DAC chips, an AK4499EX using Velvetsound technology and an AK4191EQ. This combination is ideal for decoding high-resolution audio formats. The A20d also incorporates an XMOS XU316 USB interface and an MQA decoder. It is therefore capable of decoding up to 32bit 768kHz PCM, native DSD up to DSD512 and MQA format. Its amplification stage also makes it an excellent headphone amplifier, with a TPA6120A2 amplifier chip and two headphone outputs, one of which is balanced. Its full range of connectors also allows it to be used as a preamplifier, with three OPA1612 and stereo RCA and XLR line outputs delivering 2.3Vrms and 4.6Vrms respectively. High-performance and versatile, Sabaj's A20d also features Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity, so you can transmit your music wirelessly from a smartphone or tablet for example.
PCM and DSD filters
In order to offer an enriched, qualitative and varied listening experience, Sabaj offers 4 different tonalities as well as 2 DSD filters and 7 PCM filters.
Bluetooth 5.0
The Sabaj A20d 2023 incorporates a Bluetooth 5.0 receiver from Qualcomm, enabling you to stream your music remotely, from a smartphone for example. The on-board receiver chip also supports aptX, aptX HD and LDAC transmission codecs, ensuring excellent sound quality and transmission stability at distances of up to 20m.
A high-performance headphone amplifier
The A20d 2023 benefits from a symmetrical headphone amplifier circuit incorporating a TI TPA6120A2 chip, offering reproduction over a wide frequency range and a low noise level. Output distortion is just -120dB and a gain setting (high = +8dB / low = 0dB) means the Sabaj A20d 2023 can be adapted to the vast majority of headphones on the market.
Pre-amplifier mode
With its two balanced stereo XLR and stereo RCA line outputs and 3 AOP1612s, the Sabaj A20d can be used as a preamplifier. The balanced XLR output can reach a power of 4.6Vrms and the RCA output up to 2.3Vrms. Three different modes are available with the preamplifier function: the Vol Fixed mode where the volume is fixed on the XLR and RCA outputs, the Vol Variable mode allowing control of the output volume and the Fixed DSD Bypass mode for direct retransmission of the DSD signal.
