The Sabaj A20d is a compact, design and performance DAC. Its digital/analog conversion stage is based on an ESS ES9038Pro chip, a high-end DAC that supports high sampling rates and ensures incredibly accurate reproduction. Particularly complete, the A20d is also equipped with a wide range of connectors including an I2S input and a balanced output. The DAC also benefits from a Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity, allowing you to transmit your music wirelessly directly from a smartphone.
ES9038Pro DAC
At the core of the A20d is the ESS ES9038Pro 32bit DAC chip with HyperStream III architecture, the brand's top-of-the-line model, ensuring excellent sound performance with very low distortion and noise. This chip also supports high sampling rates, up to PCM 32bit 768kHz, DSD512 and even MQA. This ES9038Pro chip is directly associated with its own LDO ES9311 regulator, providing a clean and stable electrical signal.
MQA Decoding
LMQA (Master Quality Authenticated) is an award-winning British technology that restores the sound of the original recording. The MQA Master file is authenticated by the artists, producers or rights holders. These files are light enough to stream or download.
The A20d incorporates an MQA decoder to play these files for the best possible audio quality.
Bluetooth 5.0
The Sabaj A20d integrates a Bluetooth 5.0 receiver from Qualcomm, allowing you to broadcast your music remotely, from a smartphone for example. The embedded receiver chip also supports the aptX and aptX HD transmission codecs, for a sound quality close to that of a CD.
A complete connectivity
Despite its compact form factor, the A20d offers a complete connectivity that will allow an easy integration within the vast majority of audio systems. We find in input USB-B, Coaxial, Optical Toslink and even I2S via HDMI. For the outputs, the Sabaj DAC offers single-ended stereo RCA or balanced stereo XLR.
Filters
With seven built-in PCM filters, the A20d adapts to your listening and your audio system.
- FL1 : Fast Roll-off linear phase
- FL2 : Slow Roll-off linear phase
- FL3 : Fast Roll-off minimum phase
- FL4 : Slow Roll-off minimum phase
- FL5 : Apodizing, fast roll-off, linear phase
- FL6 : Hybrid, fast roll-off, minimum phase
- FL7 : Brickwall filter
DPLL Function
DPLL is used to eliminate clock jitter. The DPLL value defines the bandwidth of the clock lock. The wider the bandwidth, the easier the locking. The narrower the bandwidth, the more effective the clock jitter removal.
Some sources (like some TVs for example) have a too high clock jitter, which can cause an inability of the PLL chip to perform its locking, resulting in a jerky sound. Increasing the DPLL can then correct this problem.
High-end components
All the circuits of the Sabaj A20d use high quality audio components, favoring a rich and precise reproduction. It includes a 2nd generation XMOS XU216 16-core USB interface, an ES9311 voltage regulator and two ultra-low phase noise clocks.
