AK4493S Dual DAC

The heart of the SMSL D-6, its digital to analog conversion stage, embeds two AKM AK4493S DAC chips. This one offers excellent performances with an ultra-low distortion and a wide dynamic range, going up to 123dB.

XMOS USB Interface & High-End Components

The dual AKM DAC is supported by a second generation XMOS high-end USB receiver chip. It enables the D-6 to decode high-resolution audio streams up to 32bit 768kHe PCM and native DSD512. In addition, the combination of the AK4493S DACs and this USB interface ensures accurate and detailed sound reproduction.

Of course, the D-6 does not limit itself to this combination, but also incorporates a CK-03 clock module for very low jitter and a high-performance filtered power supply stage.

Bluetooth 5.1

SMSL has equipped the D-6 with the latest Qualcomm QCC5125 chip, which offers high-resolution Bluetooth 5.1 reception capability, including support for aptX HD and LDAC codecs.

Full connectivity

The D-6 is equipped with a complete connectivity, allowing an integration within the majority of the audio systems. In addition to Bluetooth connectivity, the D-6 offers USB-C, coaxial and optical Toslink. For its outputs, the D-6 offers single-ended stereo RCA as well as a balanced output on Jack 6.35mm TRS.

A great improvment
After installing the SMSL D-6 sound from PC via USB and from Bluray via Coaxial was immediately improved. I was impressed how much the atmosphere and ambience of my blurays gained. Shit, now I have to watch all my blurays a-new.
