The SMSL RAW-MDA1 is a balanced DAC featuring two ESS ES9039Q2M chips and a USB XMOS XU316 interface. These high-quality components enable it to support high-resolution streams up to PCM 32bit 768kHz, native DSD up to DSD512 and MQA. Added to this is Bluetooth 5.1 functionality thanks to a Qualcomm receiver chip supporting SBC, AAC, aptX, aptX HD and LDAC codecs. The RAW-MDA1 also benefits from an independent headphone amplification circuit for consistent output power in balanced 4.4mm jack or 6.35mm jack. Several digital and optical inputs are available: USB-C, 2x SPDIF Coaxial, 2x Optical Toslink, complemented by a stereo RCA line output and a balanced XLR output.
The SMSL RAW-MDA1 DAC supports high-resolution PCM 32bit 768kHz and native DSD streams up to DSD512 thanks to its XMOS XU316 USB interface and two ES9039Q2M DAC chips. The RAW-MDA1's balanced operation offers excellent performance, with a dynamic range of 132dB and a THD+N of 0.00005%.
The RAW-MDA1 DAC benefits from the most advanced MQA decoding technology, enabling it to perform complete expansion of MQA and MQA-CD files.
The RAW-MDA1 DAC is equipped with a Qualcomm Bluetooth receiver chip supporting the following high-definition codecs: SBC, AAC, aptX, aptX HD, and LDAC. The Bluetooth LDAC codec enables stream transfer at up to 24bit 96kHz.
An independent headphone amplifier circuit enables the SMSL RAW-MDA1 to achieve an output power of up to 2x 2.5W into 16 Ohm and up to 1.7W into 32 Ohm. The RAW-MDA1 is therefore able to drive many of the headphones available on the market.
The RAW-MDA1's USB-C input operates in both USB1.1 and USB2.0. This is convenient for those wishing to use this DAC with video game consoles such as PlayStation or Nintendo Switch. USB 2.0 supports 32bit 768kHz PCM streams via a driver, while USB1.1 supports 24bit 96kHz PCM streams without a driver.
The SMSL RAW-MDA1 features no less than 6 AOP1612A.
