I compared D70 and D90 and - for me - the D70 is definitely better. The best choice.

Balanced DAC 2x AK4497 XMOS XU208 I2S Bluetooth 5.0 LDAC 32bit 768kHz DSD512 Blackr
The DAC Topping D70 BT features many refinements specific to a high-end audio product. Powerful chips, ultra-low jitter clocks, latest generation interfaces and great versatility, this converter offers exceptional audio reproduction, characterized by magnificent transparency and a beautiful sound richness while offering practical features.
The AK4497 DAC chip from AKM is the brand's current flagship, allowing efficient and accurate decoding. Thus, the D70 BT integrates a pair of this DAC, each being associated with a channel for better separation of these. These chips allow it to reach a THD+N of -116dB and a dynamic range of 131dB. In addition, these chips support high sampling rates, allowing you to enjoy your PCM files up to 32bit 768kHz and DSD up to DSD512 Native.
These AK4497 DACs are combined with a pair of AccuSilicon 45.1584MHz and 49.1520MHz high-end femtosecond clocks. These allow a perfect synchronization of the data signals for an impressive jitter attenuation.
With its wide range of features and connectivity, the Topping D70 BT can be integrated into the vast majority of audio systems, offering many options for use and installation. On the input connector side, the device offers AES/EBU, Coaxial SPDIF, Toslink Optics, USB and I2S LVDS via HDMI. Note that this last input has several selectable modes, in order to adapt to your other I2S LVDS devices. The output includes balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA. The D70 BT allows you to select the output so that you can send the audio stream only to one or both of them.
The D70 BT also acts as a preamplifier since it includes a volume controller with attenuation from -99dB to 0dB. However, this volume control function can be disabled so that the D70 BT can only be used as a DAC with output levels constantly at their maximums, i.e. 4Vrms for XLR output and 2Vrms for RCA output.
This version of the Topping D70 BT is equipped with a particularly powerful Bluetooth 5.0 CSR8675 chip and offers it Hi-Res Audio Wireless certification. It thus supports Bluetooth transmission protocols AAC, SBC, aptX, aptX LL, aptX HD and LDAC. This last protocol, LDAC, developed by Sony, allows the transmission of files with high sampling rates up to 24bit 96kHz.
The signal received by the Bluetooth chip is then converted by the two AK4497 chips, which are much more powerful than the DAC embedded in the Bluetooth chip.
Once again, on the side of its digital interfaces Topping chooses quality and performance by integrating high-end chips into its D70 BT. For the USB interface, we find an XMOS XU208 chip supporting high sampling rates up to 32bit 768kHz in PCM and up to DSD512 Native. For SPDIF signals, an AK4118 chip does the job by providing the lowest jitter on the market for this type of interface. This chip is therefore used for the Optical, Coaxial and AES inputs and allows sampling rates of 24bit 192kHz to be achieved for the latter.
While the conversion and interface chips integrated into the D70 BT represent the best that is currently available, the rest of the circuit is not to be outdone. For example, the PCB contains 4 Nichicon FW 3300µF capacitors as power reserve for the AK4497 and 8 Nichicon Muse capacitors for coupling the output signals. The output circuit is composed of a series of 3 AOP LME49720, high precision Vishay resistors and WIMA capacitors for excellent performance. The power supply circuit, on the other hand, incorporates ultra-low noise low voltage drop (LDO) linear regulators TPS7A4701 and TPS7A3301. This quality of manufacture allows the D70 BT to offer a breathtaking sound reproduction, with incredible precision, richness and depth.

" The D70 BT offers exceptional measured performance. Its strong point is its very low noise, allowing one of the best dynamic ranges I have ever measured. "
