Versatile, the EX5 has a complete connectivity as well as a Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity. Its amplification stage, using an NFCA circuit, allows it to deliver a comfortable power to accompany the majority of the headphones of the market while ensuring a perfect audio transparency.

Dual ES9038Q2M DAC & USB XMOS

At the heart of the EX5 is a particularly efficient digital to analog conversion stage. Taking advantage of a symmetrical architecture, it uses two ESS ES9038Q2M chips, supporting PCM files up to 32bit 768kHz and DSD up to DSD512. These DACs allow to reach an excellent sound quality, marked by a great precision and a beautiful transparency. This conversion stage is associated with a USB XMOS XU216 interface which is also extremely powerful and allows the decoding of MQA files.

MQA

The Topping EX5 supports the decoding and rendering of MQA (Master Quality Authenticated) files. This technology allows to enjoy high quality audio streams, as close as possible to the original studio recording.

Bluetooth 5.0

The EX5 embeds a Bluetooth 5.0 Qualcomm CSR8675 chip. It is thus possible to broadcast your music remotely directly from your smartphone for example. In addition, this Bluetooth chip supports the high-resolution codecs aptX, aptX HD, aptX LL and LDAC, allowing you to achieve a very good quality of sound reproduction in Bluetooth.

Four output modes

The Topping EX5 has four outputs: one unbalanced headphone output on 6.35mm jack, one balanced headphone output on 4-pin XLR, and two line outputs on unbalanced RCA and balanced XLR. It is thus possible to define an output mode among four available: headphone output only, RCA only, XLR only or XLR + RCA. This selection allows the EX5 to adapt to different types of use. Regardless of the output mode, the volume control remains effective.

Passe quasi parfaitement le test de lecture de l'album Myopia d'Agnès Obel que tant de Dacs massacre. L'ampli n'est pas en reste et fait un très bon travail. Enchanté de mon achat chez Audiophonics

Du bon et du mauvais
Avantage par rapport au Topping DX3pro+ son alimentation secteur intégrée au boitier, le deuxième dac ES9038
Désavantage en tout premier je trouve vraiment inintéressant le décodage MQA qui augmente nettement le coût de l'appareil et n'apporte rien pour la grande majorité des utilisateurs. Un petit regret encore, sur la puissance de sortie inférieure au DX3 pro+
Sinon quel plaisir de commander chez audiophonics à prix compétitif.
