Holo Audio presents the big brother of its CYAN DAC, the CYAN 2. Like its predecessor, this is a balanced R2R DAC, based on discrete resistor networks. In addition, it operates in NOS (Non-Over-Sampling) mode for very pure, authentic signal restitution. Here are the main improvements on version 2 of the CYAN DAC:

  • It is equipped with two independent R2R networks, the first of which handles the primary DA conversion of PCM streams, while the second (with vector stepping) handles the DA conversion of DSD streams.
  • A new, more efficient deglitching technology is integrated. It doesn't generate any unwanted noise or effects.
  • The CYAN 2 has better measurements, with a SINAD of over 106dB and a dynamic range of over 127dB.
  • It now supports sampling rates up to PCM 32bit 1536Mhz and native DSD up to DSD1024 via its USB port.
  • The USB interface uses proprietary software with ultra-low latency and a data transmission reliability rate 2 to 4 times higher than usual interfaces on the market.

Native DSD support

Holo Audio's CYAN 2 DAC is one of the first to support native DSD via its R2R ladder architecture. The CYAN 2 module has been specially optimized for this application, and runs on MAC (DOP), Linux (DOP), and Windows/PC (Direct Native and DOP).

Holo Audio CYAN 2: an Altera MAX II CPLD

The CYAN 2's Altera MAX II CPLD is used to process the clock signal and optimize the quality of the digital sound signal by considerably reducing the jitter rate.

Holo Audio CYAN 2 DAC: I2S input via HDMI

Equipped with an I2S port via HDMI connector, the CYAN 2 lets you enjoy the very best in audio transmission. Please note that the pinout is proprietary to Holo Audio, although it is similar to the PS Audio standard. Left and right channels are inverted for DSD streams.

Please note that I2S is not the same as HDMI Audio/Video signals. Never connect an HDMI device to the CYAN 2's I2S port. Make sure your source device is I2S-compatible and has a similar pinout configuration.

This product works with both 220V AC and 110V AC supply voltage. By default, however, it is set for use with 220V AC. For use on 110V AC, it is necessary to set the device to this supply voltage via an internal switch before use and connection.

What a DAC!
After reading a lot of reviews and videos... I made the jump from my sub 1.000€ to this one. A friend of mine was so kind to give me for comparing a +/- 2.500€ R2R DAC.
Apart from the none existing input selection and the on/off button... the Cyan 2 is just better sounding.
It's clearer, deeper soundstage, more control and dryer punch in the Bass and more detailed (less laid back).
A fantastic device from Holo Audio!

Un rapport performance sur prix absolument fabuleux
En remplacement d’un Zodiac Gold Antelope Audio âgé de 10 ans, j’ai été tenté par un Topping ou un SMSL autour de 1000 €.
Mais je trouve que la gamme change trop rapidement chez ces deux constructeurs.
Pour l’écart de prix, les excellents commentaires et différentes revues + la qualité de fabrication, je pensais que ce choix était relativement raisonnable.
L’absence de sélecteur ne me dérange pas pour mon besoin

Je l’ai fait tourner H24 pendant 140 h en suivant son évolution.
Là il commence à vraiment s’exprimer.

Mes composants en aval, dont des enceintes actives pro de 22 ans d’âge m’ont permis de facilement constater l’énorme bond qualitatif à l’écoute, comme constaté dans les autres avis.

Incroyable
Petit retour après une semaine d'utilisation. Ce DAC est tout simplement incroyable, il me donne le sourire aux lèvres à chaque démarrage en procurant une texture à la musique que je n'avais pas encore connue. Je reviens sur la connexion I2S qui est finalement meilleure que l'USB, de plus j'utilise un streamer RED de la même marque qui a une sortie I2S native. Bon, 2 petits bemols quand même, les leds frontales sont trop vives à l'oeil et l'écoute en DSD est inférieure au PCM. Pour finir la qualité de fabrication est hors normes, un petit exemple, le fusible utilisé pour la partie alimentation est un fusible en céramique, fil d'argent avec connecteurs plaqué or ; Holo n'a pas lésiné sur les pièces de qualité. Bravo

Top DAC
Ce dac n'a pas usurpé sa réputation. Dès la sortie de la boîte, le son est déjà magnifique. Un dac comme je les aime, sans options, sans afficheurs, sans volume, sans filtre. Bien manufacturé, solide procurant une scène sonore incroyable avec beaucoup de dynamisme et un spectre bien en place. J'ai été surpris par les aigus arrondis et surtout les basses propres et profondes et il n'est même pas rôdé. Testé en USB et I2S, j'ai préféré l'USB. Alors si vous recherchez un DAC R2R NOS qui mérite son prix, je vous le conseille vivement.

Superbe DAC
Je possède également un DAC RME ACI2 (AKM 4493), le Cyan2 apporte une différence importante sur le rendu avec une écoute plus "analogique", un placement plus précis des instruments et des voix, et le registre des basses plus soutenu.
Il est associé à un préamp Lake People MC100 et des enceintes ATC 20 Pro Active.
Je l'utilise avec Roon et HQPlayer 5 en mode DSD direct upsampling DSD256 et il révèle alors tout son potentiel.
Il semble qu'il faille entre 4 à 500 h de rodage pour qu'il soit complétement au top.
Attention si vous avez plusieurs sources (USB, AES, coax, I2S), vous n'avez pas de sélecteur à votre disposition, il choisi la première activée, mais à tendance à privilégier l'USB (j'ai activé l'AES, mais il bascule quand même sur l'USB si j'active en second l'USB).
Service impeccable avec Audiophonics.
Achat très recommandé.
Si vous êtes intéressés, passez commande dès qu'il est de retour en stock, car cela part très vite....
