FOSI AUDIO SK02 Headphone Amplifier / Portable Preamplifier / DAC ES9038Q2M 32bit 384kHz DSD256
With its SK02, Fosi Audio unveils a small, versatile, high-performance device that takes up the form factor of its SK01. The SK02 fulfills the functions of headphone amplifier, portable preamplifier and portable DAC. The SK02 features an ES9038Q2M DAC chip and a low-noise, high-speed SGM8262 operational amplifier chip. This enables the SK02 to support high-resolution streams up to PCM 32bit 384kHz and DSD256, with output power up to 1100mW. It also features gain control (High and Low) to adapt to headphones with impedance ranging from 16 ohms to 300 ohms. Regarding inputs, the SK02 features USB-C and Toslink optical connectivity. Outputs include a 3.5mm jack and 4.4mm balanced jack headphone outputs, plus a 3.5mm jack/mini-Toslink auxiliary output for connection to an amplifier.
Fosi Audio SK02: ES9038Q2M DAC chip
The SK02 incorporates an ES9038Q2M DAC chip from ESS Technology. This 32bit stereo DAC is a high-performance chip specially designed for audiophile applications. It is based on HyperStream II architecture and enables the Fosi Audio SK02 to support 32bit 384kHz PCM and native DSD streams up to DSD256.
Fosi Audio SK02: Powerful headphone amplifier
The SK02 is capable of developing substantial headphone output power. Using an SGM8262 operational amplifier, its 3.5mm jack output reaches up to 280mW @ 32Ω of power, and its 4.4mm balanced jack output reaches up to 1100mW @32Ω of power, all while maintaining a THD < 0.001%. Two gain modes enable the SK02 to adapt to all types of headphones with impedance between 16Ω and 300Ω.
Fosi Audio SK02: Portable preamplifier function
An auxiliary output on a 3.5mm jack/mini-Toslink connector also allows the SK02 to be coupled to an amplifier. This transforms the SK02 into a portable preamplifier. If you're using the USB-C input, you'll need to use a 3.5mm jack as output, while if you're using the Toslink input you'll need to use a mini-Toslink connector for the SPDIF signal.
Fosi Audio SK02: An interface with LEDs
The top of the SK02 features several LED indicators. They make it easy to locate essential information about the current playback, such as sample type, gain setting and selected input mode.
