The L70 uses the same NFCA (Nested Feedback Composite Amplifier) module as the A90. Its hybrid voltage/current feedback architecture combined with UHGF (Ultra High Gain Feedback) technology offers excellent DC and AC performance, extremely low THD+N and an incredibly high dynamic range of 146dB. In addition, the L70 has a high output current and a very low output impedance and noise level, allowing it to drive the vast majority of headphones on the market, including the most demanding models.
The L70 is compatible with most headphone connectors. It integrates a balanced XLR 4 pins, a balanced 4.4mm jack and an single-ended 6.35mm jack. The on-board balanced amplifier circuitry is suitable for both balanced and single-ended headphones. In addition, its high output voltage and current as well as its low output impedance allow it to accompany sensitive headphones and high-impedance headphones without difficulty.
The Topping L70 provides two levels of gain to cover most needs of different headphones.
Single-ended output : Low gain : 6.0dB / High gain : 19.8dB
Balanced output : Low gain : 0dB / High gain : 13.8dB
The L70 is not only capable of driving headphones but can also be used as a preamplifier. In this mode you get the same performance as with the headphone amplifier and the single-ended 20Ω and balanced 40Ω output impedances allow compatibility with many amplifiers. In addition, the L70 comes with a remote control for convenient control.
Using an R2R volume control composed of relays and a resistor network, the L70 ensures a precise adjustment, a great durability and a perfect balancing of the channels. It also incorporates a memory for the volume and gain level according to 8 profiles that can be customized according to the connected equipment.
A ground loop can occur when multiple devices are used together. The L70 has a GND/LIFT switch to solve this problem. In normal use, simply set it to the GND position. When a ground loop is encountered, select LIFT mode to eliminate the ground loop.
The L70 integrates a 12V trigger with active (trigger output) and passive (trigger input) control. With only a simple 3.5mm jack cable, the Topping L70 can be switched on and off in sync with your other equipment with a 12V trigger interface.
