Balanced ADC DAC Headphone Amplfier SPDIF ADAT AES/EBU SteadyClock FS 24Bit 192kHz
The RME ADI-2 FS is a compact and extremely flexible 2-channel ADC/DAC converter. Despite its small size, the unit allows high quality conversion to and from SPDIF, AES and ADAT up to 192kHz. Its ability to use these 3 formats gives the ADI-2 FS more than complete compatibility!
Balanced analog inputs and outputs, monitoring via headphone output, SteadyClock FS for optimal conversion quality, 3-level hardware I/O level control and D-D and A-A modes make the ADI-2 FS a complete and versatile unit. Its professional level sound reproduction quality also allows it to work as an extension of other converters.
The ADI-2 FS is equipped with two servo-balanced analog line inputs on XLR and 6.35mm jack combo connectors, one XLR output, one 6.35mm jack output and an amplified headphone output also on the front panel 6.35mm jack connector. The digital stage integrates an ADAT-compatible optical input and output and an AES/EBU-compatible coaxial input and output. This rich connectivity allows the ADI-2 FS to be integrated into the majority of systems.
The analog inputs use the advanced circuit architecture of the ADI-2 Pro, offering low noise and distortion as well as an extended frequency response. Three different settings for the input/output stages allow full compatibility.
The RME ADI-2 FS also uses the SteadyClock FS clock technology allowing a significant reduction of jitter, guaranteeing exceptional sound quality.
For its conversion stage, the ADI-2 FS also uses the technology of the ADI-2 Pro with an AKM ADC from the AK557x range and an AK4490 DAC, supporting sampling rates of up to 192kHz and allowing a wide limitation of distortion while offering a dynamic range of 120dBA.
While the device is particularly comprehensive, it also benefits from clear markings, intuitive function buttons and numerous LED indicators that make it easy to use and quick to get to grips with.
The ADI-2 FS uses a slightly reduced version of the Extreme Power output stage of the ADI-2 Pro. With a power of up to 0.7W per channel, an output impedance of 0.1Ω, a maximum output level of +19dBu and a very low THD of -110dB, the High Power² circuit will work with any headphones.
Power is supplied by an external AC adapter with lockable connector. Thanks to a wide operating voltage range from 9 to 15V, the ADI-2 FS can also be powered by a battery for mobile use.
