Noise in cables can have several origins. The most common is poor or no shielding on cables or power supplies. Noise can also come from a switch-mode power supply, which is known to be noisy, or, more simply, from interference from other electronic devices.

In order to attenuate this parasitic noise, iFi Audio uses Active Noise Cancellation 2 technology, which duplicates the signal and reverses its phase, thus isolating and eliminating any parasitic noise that may be present.

Despite the filtering process applied, the HDMI iSilencer lets digital signals pass through perfectly to meet Ultra HD/HDR 8K/60Hz and 4K/120Hz standards, and works on HDMI 2.1 with extended backwards compatibility.
