With the Harmony µDDC, Laiv Audio presents us a digital interface and reclocker that considerably reduces phase noise and jitter for a more natural sound rendering in an open stage. The latter is based on a Femto clock to ensure the most stable clock signal possible. Connections include USB-B, AES, I2S and coaxial, plus a galvanically isolated I2S output. Thanks to its FPGA-based signal processing, the Harmony µDDC can handle signals up to PCM 768kHz and DSD512. Finally, a 10MHz clock input is also available if you wish for an external clock to reclock your signal.
The Harmony µDDC uses an FPGA (Field-Programmable Gate Array) to manage the routing and processing of complex digital signals with extremely low latency. This guarantees bit-perfect data processing for high-resolution formats such as PCM 768kHz and DSD512.
In addition to the FPGA, a complex programmable logic device (CPLD) manages the synchronization of critical signals, minimizing phase noise and jitter. This division of processing tasks guarantees greater efficiency and precision for each operation.
The Harmony µDDC incorporates a femto clock to reduce jitter to an infinitesimal level, guaranteeing the integrity of the digital audio signal's synchronization. This is particularly important for maintaining the transparency of audio reproduction permitted by high-resolution formats.
A robust FIFO (First-In-First-Out) buffer system synchronizes incoming and outgoing signals, eliminating timing irregularities caused by the source. The result is a continuous, clocked output that retains the original sound characteristics.
µDDC Harmony's reclocking mechanism realigns signal synchronization using the femto clock, effectively “cleaning” the digital signal of jitter introduced by upstream devices. This improves signal integrity, as well as the clarity, dynamics and resolution of the soundstage. To maintain signal purity, the I²S output is galvanically isolated, preventing electrical interference and noise propagation from the source to downstream components.
The Harmony µDDC has been designed to integrate high-end HiFi systems, supporting audio signals up to PCM 768kHz and DSD512. Furthermore, if you wish for it, a 10MHz clock input is available, allowing you to use an external clock instead of the internal one.
