BRAVO SA9227 Interface to I2S / Coaxial SPDIF / Optical 32bit 384kHz DSD
The X10-I2S module allows it user to enjoy a USB interface to I2S, Coaxial and Optical in a very simple way. It is very useful when it comes to upgrade any DIY audio system based for example on a Raspberry Pi to provide new possibilities.
List of modules of the X10 and X20 series sold separately:
This USB interface is based on a chip BRAVO Audio SA9227. This component has excellent audio capabilities and can handle seamlessly digital audio streams up to 384kHz 16/24/32 bit (PCM). The 1-bit formats are not left behind with a DSD64 / DSD 128 support.
The SA9227 interface is first designed to be used directly with a SBC Raspberry Pi.
It can also operate in standalone mode, a solution that allows changing the DAC Module quickly and effortlessly for benchmarking hardware or to favor a specific speaker / amp technology when listenning.
This solution is therefore as good as practical and economical.
This interface offers your system a more complete connectivity. Thus, as input we will find a USB-A 2.0 port supported by an SA9297 chip. The interface also comes with a small USB loopback extension, making it easy to connect this X10-I2S to another module.
Caution : the port layout on a Raspberry Pi 4 does not fit with this extension. Use a USB-A to USB-A male cable instead.
On the output side, the module offers SPDIF (Coaxial), Toslink Optics and I2S for optimal sound quality.
The interface also incorporates an ultra-low phase jitter SiTime SiT8208 SiTime oscillator, a Pulse PE-6561NL digital signal transformer with a design to limit EMI noise and interference, and an ultra-low noise voltage regulator from Texas Instruments for optimal operation.

The announced sampling rates are only valid on the I2S output. They are therefore not valid for use with an X10-DAC / X20-DAC. With the latter, the sampling rates in PCM go up to 24bit 192kHz.
The X10-I2S interface is compatible with Volumio. To be able to use these two solutions together, a simple manipulation is necessary.
