DAC Module
USB DAC 48kHz / 96kHz Optical, PCM5100 MS8416, OPA 4558
This comprehensive module has a USB and Optical Toslink inputs operating with a MS8416 chip.
The incoming digital stream is converted into analog signal by a DAC chip PCM5100 before going through an well-built preamplification stage.
The PCB is already equiped with a 6.35mm jack connector (headset output) and a classic output on RCA stereo port to directly hit a power amplifier.
A final analog RCA input for connecting allows to connect a tertiary analog device directly to the preamplification stage. This is therefore an ideal solution to centralize multiple digital & analog sources and accessing them from a single circuit.
Volume control and source selection
Two rotary switches are available on the front side of the PCB.
The first is a potentiometer in charge of driving the volume control.
The second is a rotary selector, allows to select the input source: USB, optical or RCA auxiliary analog input. The source selection is gentle to the ears and for the rest of your audio system thanks to an EC2-NU relay.
Quality components
The module's conception has been thought to respect high fidelity standards. It thus uses film resistors with a tolerance ± 1% and Nikon electrolytic capacitors 2200μF dedicated to filtering the power supply.
The PCB itself benefits from a double-sided copper foil structure with 1.6mm thickness.
Power supply
The module is very easily to power thanks to already soldered a DC jack connector 5.5 / 2.1mm on the rear side of the PCB.
A standards power supply 12V DC is enough to power the module.
Caution : no power supply is included with this module, you may find an appropriate SMPS here with the right DCjack connector
