The MiniDSP MHC Streamer is an asynchronous multi-channel USB interface that supports many input and output formats, leveraging XMOS and MiniDSP expertise. The module includes a high-quality XMOS Xcore 200 USB interface chip to ensure excellent sound reproduction. Using one of the MiniDSP firmware provided, the MHC Streamer is able to support data transmission in Toslink Optics, ADAT, Coaxial SPDIF, I2S, TDM, DSD and PDM. This USB Audio Class 2 (UAC2) interface is a true Swiss army knife, ideal for product and audio program developers who need an interface for PC / Max, Linux, iOS or Android. This interface even supports format conversion from 16x PDM MEMS microphone to I2S, making this module an incredible tool for developing spatial filtering (beamforming) or speech recognition algorithms.

MiniDSP MCHStreamer
Have been working with its previous version since 2013 without a single hitch. I integrated the new one in a multitrack interface setup (24ch) and is working flawlessly from day one. Albeit not really cheap, it' s worth its price..Audiophonics service prompt as always.

Very versatile, although not cheap
Veritable Swiss Army Knife for USB connectivity. Although this is not a cheap item, it is very useful. I use it for Toslink SPDIF to USB for my MacBook Pro which it does perfectly, but it can be configured for I2S in/out, Coax in/out, ADAT depending on the loaded firmware. Installing the firmware is easy enough.

Finding a decent Toslink to USB receiver that is better than 16 bit/44.1Khz is quite tricky. There is the Soundblaster X-Fi that can do this, but I was worried about Mac compatibility.

This works perfectly and can be powered by USB or with a 5V header on the board.

The USBStreamer would have sufficed for the rates that I record my vinyl at, but this was only marginally more expensive, and handles higher rates and DSD if I ever want to go that direction in future.
