Dayton Audio's DAEX13CT-8 13mm exciter has the same ability as the other exciter to turn almost any surface into a speaker, but in a more compact size to work with smaller surfaces.
A neodymium magnet is used to create maximum magnetic flux around the coil, which allows for increased sensitivity over similar sized models. This also reduces the power requirements of the exciter, allowing the use of very small amplifiers without sacrificing total power. Its 8Ω nominal impedance facilitates the use of parallel and series-parallel wired arrays to achieve a highly focused sound image with minimal dispersion. To ensure maximum acoustic energy transfer between the transducer and the surface to which it is attached, a 3M VHB adhesive is pre-applied.
The frequency response and sensitivity of an exciter depends entirely on the surface to which it is attached. Thinner, smaller materials will tend to provide a higher sound level and create a midrange and high frequency response. Thicker and larger materials (which may require the use of multiple vibrators) will provide a slightly lower level but will produce a fuller response.
