The Dayton Audio EX32HRDS-4 lets you add a dynamic sound source to almost any surface or object. Exciter technology offers a universal, cost-effective alternative to conventional loudspeakers, enabling sound reproduction virtually anywhere. Problems such as weather conditions, space constraints, vandalism or visibility can be avoided or minimized through the use of exciters. Dayton Audio IMS exciters can be used in a multitude of DIY applications to easily add sound to an existing non-audio-specific project or create a portable speaker system. The unique mounting system lets you easily try out and combine different models.
The Dayton Audio EX32HRDS-4 IMS exciter has the ability to turn almost any surface into a loudspeaker. The small size of this exciter allows audio reproduction in confined spaces or compact objects. A neodymium magnet is used to create maximum magnetic flux around the proprietary voice coil to increase sensitivity compared with similar-sized vibrators. This reduces power requirements and enables the use of very small audio amplifiers, without sacrificing total power. The 1” voice coil and cooling vents enable increased input power for high-output applications, while maintaining a reduced form factor.
Dayton Audio's exclusive IMS™ interchangeable mounting system allows you to try different configurations, placements and exciters to find the best combination for your project. Each exciter comes with a threaded mounting pad that can be permanently installed anywhere. Installation is easy, simply remove the pad from the exciter assembly, mount the pad on your project with two screws or 3M adhesive and screw the exciter back onto the pad. The non-destructive nature of the interchangeable fastener means you can test different exciters or swap out non-functional units without risk of damaging your project or your vibrators.
Note: the frequency response and sensitivity of an exciter depend entirely on the surface to which it is attached. Thinner, smaller materials will tend to provide greater sound volume and create a midrange and treble response. Thicker, larger materials (with multiple vibrators) will produce a slightly lower volume, but a fuller sound.
