With the Fusion Core, Burson Audio presents a HiFi power supply rated at 24V and 15A, for a total of 360W, equipped with GaN (gallium nitride) transistors instead of the traditional silicon-based transistors. This new semiconductor technology, a veritable revolution in its field, has a number of advantages for HiFi power supplies.
Firstly, GaN transistors are much more efficient than traditional silicon transistors, limiting the loss of energy during switching and therefore heat generation. The result is a much cooler power supply at equivalent power levels. Furthermore, this increased energy efficiency also reduces the distortion induced in the signal by the power supply.
Furthermore, one of the specific features of GaN transistors is their very high switching speed, with Burson Audio ensuring a switching frequency of the order of 100kHz. This increased speed has several effects: firstly, it eliminates the noise associated with the switching itself in the various circuits, eliminating the background noise. Furthermore, it also means a much faster response time from the power supply, enabling it to adapt quickly to fluctuations in power demand from the devices connected to it.
