Moondrop's latest iteration of their Quark earphones, the Quark 2, like its predecessor, aims to offer quality earphones at a contained price. To achieve this, Moondrop have used all their know-how and past experience to update one of their iconic models. The result is an earphone with a dynamic Ø7.8mm driver made from liquid crystal polymers, a redesigned cavity and an integrated DAC/AMP/DSP module capable of decoding files up to PCM 32bit 368kHz.
Moondrop's Quark 2 incorporate a dynamic driver with a Liquid Crystal Polymer (LCP) diaphragm coupled to a flexible suspension for a detail-rich result with a wide frequency response. To ensure maximum efficiency and fast response, a CCAW voice coil coupled to an N52 magnetic circuit is also used, ensuring that the driver gets the best out of it.
The body of the Quark 2 earphones has been given special attention to ensure the best possible fit with the driver. The design of the body has been developed to guarantee high-quality sound insulation, naturally protecting you from the outside world without the need to turn up the volume. Furthermore, the internal cavity has been designed to deliver dynamic bass, a quality that is even more impressive given the small size of the earphones. Moreover, in order to achieve a pleasant timbre, particularly when listening for long periods, a phonic filter is positioned just after the driver, attenuating the most unpleasant high frequencies while preserving all the details.
The USB-C connector on the Quark 2 earphones includes a SoC that acts as a DAC, DSP and amplifier. As a result, these earphones can be used as they are without worrying about running out of power, while offering analogue/digital conversion up to 32bit 384kHz PCM.
For furthermore practicality, the Quark 2s also feature a module for controlling the volume and playback of your tracks. This module also includes a microphone, so you can easily make phone calls while wearing your earphones.
In addition to the Quark 2's very low latency (<5ms), it boasts a frequency response very similar to that of the VDSF 5128 Demo model.
