Hybrid In-Ear Monitors IEM Dynamic / Balanced Armature / Electrostatic Drivers
With the Variations in-ear earphones, Moondrop offers an exceptional model, integrating no less than five speakers in a hybrid design. There are two electrostatic drivers, two Balanced Armature drivers and a final dynamic driver, each with an advantage in terms of sound reproduction, providing a balanced, accurate and dynamic sound. In addition to this architecture, a 3D-printed filter structure and frequency separation system ensures an excellent amplitude-frequency and phase-frequency response.

Dynamic driver
The bass is provided by the new dynamic driver with a 10mm Liquid Crystal composite diaphragm and internal copper cavity. This diaphragm, extremely thin with a thickness of only 9µm, offers a perfectly balanced damping.
Balanced Armature drivers
The dual Balanced Armature drivers are custom designs supplied by Softears. They offer both an excellent transient response, a very detailed sound but also offer very good amplitude-frequency characteristics, perfectly complementing the other drivers in these headphones.
Electrostatic speakers
The IEM Variations have two Sonion speakers on board to take care of the treble reproduction. They provide high efficiency, beautiful dynamics and great precision.
To provide excellent frequency response and consistent phase across all frequencies, the Variations earphones take the hybrid filter design of the Blessing2 IEMs and enhance it. Using high-precision 3D printing, the Variations feature a physical crossover combined with damping materials to provide low-frequency bandpass and mid-treble low-pass filtering.
For this complex 3D printing, Moondrop collaborated with HeyGears, a company specializing in high-precision resin 3D printing with DLP technology.
The Variations earphones are delivered with a detachable cable (CIEM 0.78mm) and therefore replaceable. The supplied cable consists of high-purity OCC 6N copper conductors, which are independently insulated and twisted together. Single-ended Jack 3.5mm, balanced Jack 2.5mm and balanced Jack 4.4mm adapters are also provided, allowing the Variations to be adapted to the vast majority of sources.
