With the AE10, Shanling is offering top-of-the-range earphones that use a total of 10 balanced armature drivers per earpiece to deliver rich sound reproduction over a wide frequency range from 12Hz to 40,000Hz. All of these earphones have been designed around this specific feature, from the design of the cavity to the installation of an adjustable LRC circuit to ensure that all the drivers work in concert. The result is a sound reproduction of formidable quality, with a timbre that can be changed at will using the switches on the back of the earphones.
The AE10 earphones feature an impressive number of 10 balanced armature drivers, each specialising in a specific frequency range to deliver the fullest possible sound reproduction.
Firstly, the low and very low frequencies are assigned to 4 drivers, delivering powerful bass with a smooth, natural sound. One driver is dedicated to the low midrange, providing a link with the midrange, which is assigned to two other drivers for brilliant vocal reproduction. The high frequencies, meanwhile, are handled by two drivers, delivering rich detail and excellent resolution without being aggressive on the ears. Finally, the last driver's sole purpose is to reproduce the highest possible frequencies, ensuring flawless coverage of the audio spectrum.
To get the best out of its 10 balanced armature drivers, the AE10 earphones are equipped with a fourth-order LRC circuit; this combination of an inductor, a resistor and a capacitor filters the different frequencies into 6 distinct bands and manages the mix to obtain the desired result. This circuit gives the 10 drivers a cohesive sound that's comfortable to the ear, so you can enjoy all the details of your favourite tracks.
The cavity of the AE10s has also received special attention. Firstly, it provides excellent sound insulation from the outside world, allowing you to immerse yourself completely in your music. The second was to provide a resonance chamber for the bass, for a smooth, natural sound.
Each earphone is fitted with two switches that can be used to modify the frequency response for a total of 4 different configurations.
The number one configuration corresponds to the standard mode, the frequency response retains a neutral timbre and is suitable for all types of style. The second configuration gives more space to the low frequencies, ideal for immersing yourself in atmospheric tracks. The third configuration, meanwhile, aims to offer the most transparent reproduction possible, widening the soundstage as much as possible. Finally, the fourth configuration focuses on bringing out the midrange, allowing you to get the most out of the vocals.
The AE10 earphones also come with a custom cable. The cable has 8 strands, each made up of 18 monocrystalline copper cores. The double-layer structure of the conductors provides electromagnetic shielding against interference, ensuring flawless signal transmission to your earphones.
