Softears Volumes S are hybrid in-ear monitors combining two dynamic drivers and two balanced armature drivers to deliver a natural sound reproduction with powerful, punchy bass. Softears has put all its design expertise into solving the technical challenges of multi-driver earphones, delivering sound reproduction of rare coherence in an aesthetically pleasing case.
Softears Volume S: Two setting modes
Volume S are specially designed with two distinct tuning modes and two separate crossover systems, allowing you to switch between them using the switch on the rear panel. One mode simulates a standard HRTF room acoustic system, perfect for listening to pop music, creating the sensation of attending a live performance. The other mode simulates a HiFi audio system with a natural high-frequency attenuation of -6 dB, providing a comfortable and natural listening experience that reduces fatigue, making it ideal for symphonic or classical music.
Softears Volume S: Dual dynamic drivers
Volume S uses a combination of active and passive dynamic drivers. The passive wool cone is inverted and positioned at the dome of the active driver. This design effectively absorbs unwanted noise outside the low frequencies, ensuring clean, powerful bass. The active dynamic driver has a titanium dome and a silicone suspension similar to that of a large speaker system, offering long excursion and low distortion characteristics. This configuration brings deep, punchy bass to the Volume S, bringing exceptional impact to your listening experience.
Softears Volume S: Balanced armature drivers
For midrange and high-frequency reproduction, the Volume S uses two balanced armature drivers. While high frequencies are handled by a WBFK driver, mid-range frequencies are handled by a balanced armature driver specially developed in-house by Softears to provide a perfect link between the different drivers making up the Volume S, covering the frequency range effectively while delivering a unified sound.
Softears Volume S: Excellent phase coherency
Volume S's acoustic channels are the result of precise design, with the aim of reducing their lengths and minimising the angles of curvature as much as possible to ensure smooth, low-latency transmission throughout the frequency range. This approach also ensures phase alignment.
Phase coherence across the entire frequency range allows high and low frequencies to reach the ear simultaneously, without delay. This improves the reproduction of instrument placement and vocals, restoring natural tonality and accurate imaging.
Softears Volume S: RC tuning network
With great adaptability and ultra-low loss, the RC tuning network used in Volume S delivers a powerful and complete sound experience. The Volume S uses 8 precisely tuned crossover components to filter the frequencies emitted by each driver. The targeted frequency response is achieved through series and parallel connections of capacitors and resistors. This RC tuning network technology effectively filters out excessive signals and achieves a uniform impedance distribution across the entire frequency range.
Softears Volume S: Internal pressure management
The Volume S uses a decompression structure at the rear of the acoustic chamber combined with a high-pass filter. This technology provides the basis for impressive bass performance while eliminating the pressure problems that often occur in fully sealed enclosures. This ensures a more comfortable fit for in-ear earphones while delivering deep, natural bass.
Softears Volume S: A unique design
Volume S models feature a rear panel made from two different materials: the base frame is aluminium alloy, precision-machined by 5-axis CNC, with a sandblasted anodised finish that gives it a smooth, matt texture. The centre is inlaid with forged carbon fibre. Each carbon fibre part undergoes multiple manufacturing processes, from laying, stamping and temperature control to forging and final CNC machining. The texture of each piece is unique. Depending on the angle, the light reflects differently, creating a brilliant effect that highlights a distinct and exclusive design.
Softears Volume S: Quality cable
The cable supplied has interchangeable gold-plated 3.5mm and 4.4mm jack terminations and is made from 60 strands of pure copper wire encased in a paracord sheath, ensuring a cable that is as high quality as it is durable.
