With the Zero, Truthear has teamed up with Crinacle, renowned for its expertise in IEM, to offer in-ear earphones based on two dynamic drivers with liquid-crystal polymer diaphragms to deliver rigorously accurate sound reproduction according to HRTF characteristics.
The Zero features a dual-driver dynamic configuration, 10mm and 7.8mm in diameter respectively, to deliver a smooth, detailed sound thanks to a sophisticated magnetic circuit structure combined with liquid crystal polymer (LCP) diaphragms and flexible polyurethane suspensions.
The 7.8mm dynamic driver responsible for midrange and high frequencies uses an ultra-fine CCAW voice coil, aiming to make the driver as light as possible. The result is a greater sensitivity to high frequencies, offering a clear and delicate rendering. On the other hand, the 10mm dynamic driver is responsible of low frequencies, and uses a weighted voice coil to reduce the resonance frequency for a clear delimitation of each driver's role in the frequency band.
The structure of the Zero's acoustic nozzles benefits from DLP (Digital Light Processing) 3D printing, enabling an assembly finesse that would otherwise be impossible. In this way, Truthear was able to precisely design its internal cavity and acoustic nozzles to get the best out of both drivers, efficiently guiding the waves produced by them.
The Zero's low-frequency gain and HRTF-compliant treble response give them a profile comparable to professional monitoring earphones, while being slightly less cold and rigid in their final rendering.
Furthermore, the Zero's relatively neutral sound to the ear has been carefully engineered to avoid phase distortion, a recurrent problem in earphones with multiple drivers and the cause of unnatural sound reproduction.
The Zero comes with a 3.5mm to 0.78mm 2-pin jack cable made of 4 strands of silver-plated copper, guaranteeing high-quality signal transmission without external interference.
" What on earth are you doing reading the rest of this review? Go and buy one of these! I don't care if you don't listen to IEMs normally. You want this IEM so you know what correct tonality is, when you listen with other transducers such as headphones and speakers. Think of it as the tuning fork that a musician uses! This IEM needs to be in your arsenal. "
