Speaker Driver Subwoofer 2000W 4 Ohm 95dB 18Hz - 500Hz Ø53.3cm
Deep bass and high SPL imply a large volume of displaced air. The Dayton Audio HTS545HE-4 subwoofer is therefore capable of a linear excursion of 21mm in each direction (@ 70% BL, verified by Klippel) for a displaced air volume of more than 7L. It also supports a power of up to 2000W RMS with a sensitivity of 95.6dB, allowing it to reveal very low frequencies.
Because subwoofers are often pushed into their corners, Dayton Audio has developed OEP (Over-Excursion Protection) technology to provide audible warnings of excessively high applied power. This speaker is designed for durability.
The HTS545HE-4 features a powerful double ferrite motor. Unlike neodymium magnets, ferrite magnets are able to provide constant driving force even when exposed to high heat to maintain low compression. The Ø127mm voice coil is wrapped around a fiberglass support, which can withstand extreme temperatures. A large vent on the pole piece, 6 peripheral openings and numerous vents between the salad bowl and the field plate promote air flow through the coil, further reducing compression caused by increased heat resistance. To maintain minimal distortion at high efficiency, the pole piece also incorporates an aluminum shorting ring. This assembly provides the HTS545HE-4 with the ability to provide consistent low frequency output, even at high sound pressure levels and for extended periods of time. In addition, most high excursion woofers suffer from poor low-midrange response and tend to lack impact and punch. The HTS545HE-4 has the engine power to develop incredible efficiency, control and low-mid output, eliminating the need for additional low-mid drivers in large home theater systems.
The treated paper membrane is optimized and reinforced to withstand the stress of an exceptionally high excursion, while maintaining its shape. To keep this membrane under control, the speaker uses two large-diameter spiders with large spacing to ensure extreme linearity. A large SBR foam suspension is double stitched to the membrane to ensure this important linear excursion. This is held in place by a cast aluminum bowl that does not restrict airflow and incorporates terminal blocks for easy and reliable connections.
