Speaker Driver Subwoofer 400W 4 Ohm 86dB 25Hz-500Hz Ø25.4cm
Designed to produce maximum output at an unbeatable price, this MX10-22 Max-X dual voice coil subwoofer from Dayton Audio has all the features you'd expect from a top-of-the-line model. Offering remarkably low distortion, the MX10-22 is designed to be used in compact enclosures, making it ideal for home and car audio systems. With its 27.4mm peak-to-peak excursion, this speaker is capable of moving large amounts of air.
In designing the MX10-22, Dayton Audio did everything possible to reduce the final price without sacrificing performance or reliability. A large, inverted dust cover completely covers the paper pulp diaphragm to create an extremely rigid, design-led layered diaphragm. The narrow but tall, custom-molded bowl has been optimized to allow for significant excursion without reducing the diaphragm's surface area to ensure maximum displacement with improved efficiency. In addition, the suspension wraps around the back side of the mounting ring for maximum bonding surface area to easily withstand the stresses of high excursion. To maintain diaphragm linearity, the MX10-22 uses dual spiders, with enough spacing to ensure that there is no vibration even when pushed to its limit.
High efficiency subwoofers can generate a lot of heat. Excessive heat build-up increases the overall temperature, which in turn increases the resistance. This leads to reduced efficiency, power compression and premature failure.
The MX10-22 has everything it takes to move as much air as possible through its 63.5mm coil to dissipate that excess heat. Six large-diameter vents combined with a flared vent at the pole piece create a continuous airflow directly through the center of the coil. The outside of the coil is cooled by eight vents under the frame and six peripheral vents through the back plate. All of this airflow not only minimizes power compression, but also makes the MX10-22 extremely quiet, even at high excursion, virtually eliminating the mechanical noise often found in today's subwoofers.
Another common problem with many of today's budget subwoofers is the lack of motor power. This leads to speakers that are inefficient or only capable of producing poor quality bass.
The massive double-stacked ferrite magnets have been optimized to efficiently drive the coil with high precision. In addition, the magnetic gap is narrow enough to ensure very low magnetic force loss. This powerful assembly gives the MX10-22 an impressive BL of 18.2T/m with a Qts of 0.46, allowing it to be used in compact closed or open cabinets with excellent low frequency extension.
Finally, with its dual 2Ω coils, the MX10-22 can be used in many configurations to ensure maximum performance from your amplifier in any application. In most home audio systems, the coils will be wired in series for a 4Ω load. In the case of a car system, the coils can be run separately for a dual 2Ω load or wired in parallel at 1Ω to draw maximum power from high current amplifiers.
With extensive optimization and advanced design, the Dayton Audio MX10-22 is a high-performance subwoofer with a low price tag, incredible output capacity and low distortion. It's an ideal choice for a powerful home stereo speaker design, a high-quality mobile audio system, or a car system that delivers great sound quality.
