Turn any phone or tablet with a USB-C connector into a high-quality audio measurement device with the Dayton Audio iMM-6C USB-C measurement microphone. Each iMM-6C is individually hand-calibrated using a laboratory microphone for consistent, repeatable measurements that match the level of accuracy previously offered only by much more expensive stand-alone microphones.
The official Dayton Audio calibration file can be found here: Dayton Audio Microphone Calibration Tool.
The Dayton Audio iMM-6C is a microphone specially designed to deliver professional-quality measurements. It is optimized to connect seamlessly to any device with a USB-C port, and is compatible with Android and iOS systems. Its durable construction and compact design make it an ideal companion for audio professionals who need to perform tasks such as acoustic analysis, audio level monitoring or recording.
Each iMM-6C microphone is individually calibrated using laboratory measurement microphones. This meticulous calibration process guarantees reliable, reproducible measurements. A unique serial calibration file is available for each iMM-6C. This calibration file can be used by most iOS and Android audio analysis applications.
The iMM-6C incorporates a CM6542 ADC/DAC that accurately converts acoustic information into data that can be used with any acoustic measurement software that supports external equipment. With a THD+N of just 0.001%, the ADC operates perfectly transparently, offering maximum precision from input to output. The iMM-6C's output jack lets you play frequency sweeps and noise from your host device for an all-in-one setup.
The omnidirectional pick-up pattern of the Dayton Audio iMM-6C microphone offers a wide range of advantages and possibilities. Using an omnidirectional electret condenser capsule, this microphone is designed to pick up sound equally in all directions. Whether you're assessing the acoustics of a concert hall, recording studio or dedicated home theater, this microphone can accurately capture the spatial characteristics and reverberation of the space. When it comes to measuring the output of a loudspeaker, an omnidirectional microphone captures the sound emitted from all angles. This gives you a complete representation of the loudspeaker's performance, enabling you to analyze its frequency response, distortion levels and other important characteristics.
In order to use the iMM-6C as a calibrated measurement microphone, it may be necessary to purchase a tablet or smartphone app separately. Dayton Audio recommends the following apps : AudioTool for Android and AudioTools for iOS.
