With the BTR17, FiiO offers a portable headphone amplifier and DAC based on a pair of ES9069Q chips for digital/analog conversion, handling signals up to 32bit 768kHz PCM and native DSD512. Amplification, meanwhile, is entrusted to THX AAA 78+ technology, consisting of eight OPAs divided into 4 channels for natural sound rendering at power levels of up to 2x650mW at 32Ω.
The BTR17 is equipped with Qualcomm's new flagship QCC5181 Bluetooth chip, which, in addition to being Bluetooth LE Audio compliant, boasts a bandwidth of 2.1Mbps and is compatible with all high-definition codecs such as aptX Adaptative, aptX-HD, apt-X Lossless and LDAC.
The BTR17 also features a Desktop mode allowing you to use an external power supply via the device's dedicated port, so you can enjoy enhanced performance while protecting the internal battery from overcharging and excessive discharge.
The BTR17 is equipped with a three-position PC/BT/PHONE switch allowing you to optimize its power supply according to the device connected, enabling it to be powered entirely by the computer in PC mode, entirely by the internal battery in BT mode, and a combination of the two in PHONE mode to preserve your phone's battery.
The BTR17 incorporates a latest-generation XMOS316 USB interface, providing support for 32bit 768kHz PCM, native DSD512 and MQA. The high computing power of this interface also enables it to support parametric equalization on signals up to PCM 192kHz.
The BTR17 is equipped with an audiophile-grade DSP, enabling it to offer a 10-band equalizer. This means you can customize the frequency response of headphones, as well as export, import, share and save EQ curves. Whether you choose to use the recommended settings or share your own settings online with other enthusiasts, it's easy to access them, either through the FiiO Control app or the online version.
To ensure perfect digital-to-analog conversion, the BTR17 relies on a pair of ESS ES9069Q DAC chips. This architecture drastically reduces digital noise, ensuring a signal-to-noise ratio of 130dB and a harmonic distortion rate of -120dB.
For its amplifier stage, the BTR17 uses THX AAA 78+ technology. This solution is based on a total of 8 OPAs divided into 4 channels to deliver the cleanest, most natural sound possible. In desktop mode, the BTR17 will make full use of its OPAs to deliver 2x650mW output power.
The BTR17 power supply is divided into 3 stages. The first stage contains filtering and overvoltage protection, the second stage a boost converter, and the third a low-drop voltage regulator to ensure a stable power supply. Furthermore, the parts dedicated to the digital signal, its conversion, and the analog signal are all independently powered to avoid any potential interference.
Thanks to the FiiO Control app, available on Android and iOS, you can adjust numerous parameters such as equalization, activation of UAC 1.0 mode or time before standby.
