The xDuoo XD05T portable DAC and headphone amplifier is a high-performance device where cutting-edge technology meets vintage. Indeed, it's based on the use of tubes machined in the 60s, coupled with transistors for its amplification circuitry, while the digital-to-analog conversion stage uses two ES9039Q2M DAC chips, an XMOS XU316 USB interface and an FPGA. This little jewel of hybrid technology is therefore able to drive headphones with impedances from 32Ω to 300Ω without difficulty, while offering a soft, warm texture. What's more, it supports high-resolution sampling rates up to PCM 32Bit 768kHz, DSD512 and MQA x8 via its USB-C input.
The XD05T also boasts full connectivity, with a coaxial / Mini-Toslink optical input, a 3.5mm jack auxiliary input/output, a balanced 4.4mm jack input/output and, of course, two single-ended 6.35mm jack and balanced 4.4mm jack headphone outputs. Added to this are a range of operating modes, allowing it to be used as a desktop DAC/headphone amplifier, as well as Bluetooth 5.1 functionality thanks to a Qualcomm QCC5125 chip for great versatility of use. In terms of appearance, xDuoo has chosen a green chassis and gold-colored details to highlight the vintage spirit of its device.
xDuoo XD05T: A tube amplifier circuit
xDuoo has opted for authenticity by integrating tubes from a sixties production, offering a sound texture full of emotion, soft and warm, that will delight the most nostalgic. The use of these tubes also offers a wider dynamic range, greater than or equal to 116dB for the balanced 4.4mm jack headphone output and 114dB for the single-ended 6.35mm jack headphone output. The final sound reproduction is therefore rich in detail, immersive and provides a natural timbre.
xDuoo XD05T: A high-performance hybrid structure
As for the xDuoo XD05T's amplification stage, the tubes are then coupled to a pair of transistors providing the necessary signal power to drive a wide range of headphones or earphones. Indeed, on its balanced 4.4mm jack headphone output, the xDuoo XD05T is capable of delivering up to 1500mW at 32 ohm and 565mW at 300 ohm. As for the digital-to-analog conversion stage, it relies mainly on two ES9039Q2M DAC chips and an XMOS XU316 USB interface, enabling it to support high-resolution sampling rates up to PCM 32bit 768kHz and DSD512 via its USB-C input.
xDuoo XD05T: 3 gain settings
The xDuoo XD05T benefits from 3 gain settings, Turbo (L) perfect for IEMs, Turbo (M) for low-impedance headphones and Turbo (H) for high-impedance headphones. This allows it to adapt to a wide range of hardware configurations, and to deliver its best performance in all circumstances.
xDuoo XD05T: Bass enhancement function
The xDuoo XD05T features a switch to boost the bass in the sound reproduction for users who want a more immersive experience. This can also be useful depending on the source used.
xDuoo XD05T: Two operating modes
If you want to use the xDuoo XD05T in desktop mode, simply power it via its DC USB-C power port. Of course, it can also be used on the move, thanks to its internal 6000mAh battery, which provides excellent autonomy.
xDuoo XD05T: 99-level volume adjustment
On one side of the xDuoo XD05T, there's a potentiometer for adjusting the output volume over 99 levels, for precise setting whether low or high volume is required.
