Varnished Wire Ferrite Core Self 0.71mm 5.6mH
In the pure Mundorf tradition, the BH71 ferrite chokes make use of the best materials and rise to the quality standards that have made the reputation of this famous German firm.
The BH series combines outstanding electrical and mechanical properties that make it an excellent choice for filtering high power woofers or for any other application requiring high inductance and/or low resistance in a small volume.
Built around a high capacity HP3616 ferrite core, the BH71 chokes are wound with 99.99% pure OFC copper wire and benefit from the "varnished coil" technique dear to the manufacturer. The coils have tinned ends and are marked with the values. The inductance is measured at 25°C. The tolerance is ±3%.
When an electric current passes through a coil, it inevitably causes the different windings of the coil to vibrate. The induced microphonic effect (or the conversion of a mechanical movement into electrical oscillations) adds these oscillations to the original musical signal, altering its precision and integrity. Concretely, the reproduction loses transparency, its spatialization is affected and distortions are significantly increased. This physical phenomenon and its perverse effects on the signal are almost eliminated thanks to the "varnished coil" technique developed by Mundorf.
The varnished coils are made from a special wire. An additional layer of varnish on the outside of the wire is quickly melted by the passage of a strong electrical pulse. This process ensures that the coils are firmly connected to each other and can no longer emit unwanted vibrations.
