Audiophonics RASPDIGI V2
Network drive Raspberry Pi + 3B / Digital interface Digipi +
Concept
Audiophonics made RaspDigi as a ready-to-use, simple and effective hardware solution. It combines both Network Drive and Digital Interface function.
You can enjoy your favorite music on a neutral digital streamer with rich details, while enjoying the comfort of controlling playback from your smartphone or PC.
With extremely low jitter and components selected for their audio qualities, RaspDigi allows your DAC to work in the best conditions in order to expand your listening experience.
The device works with a SBC (Single Board Computer) Raspberry Pi + 3B, which is the reference in its field and the most powerful model offered by the brand. It works in conjunction with a Digital Interface DigiPi+. The set is developed and assembled in our workshop in France.
Premium Audio Player
Based on a digital interface capable of working with sampling rates of up to 192kHz, 24-Bit, RaspDigi is ideal as Audio or Audio / Video high-end player. This streamer allows playback of most audio formats, including DSD and DXD on its USB 2.0 class outputs.
The video playback is also supported as long as a software solution with the video decoding capabilities is running. In this configuration, one can leave the video stream on HDMI while enjoying the sound quality of RaspDigi Digital Interface on the audio outputs.
It has all the required input / output, a power port (DC Jack 5.5 / 2.1mm), an HDMI output, a micro SD card port, a pre-built hole for an optionnal infrared receiver, and an OLED display.
With its high connectivity range and coaxial BNC 75 Ohm, the RaspDIGI faces all cases both may it be video and audiophile sound stream.
Design
Design is a keypoint of RaspDigi. Compact, simple and elegant, it will integrate seamlessly within your audio system. Its design allows any installation type in both a spacious living room or in a smaller space such as a desk. Particular care was taken in the choice of materials. So Audiophonics offers 100% rugged aluminum housing that will effectively protect components RaspDigi shock and electronic disturbance while dissipating heat.
Of course, ergonomics is not left since all connectors and buttons are easily accessible and visible. The front OLED screen displays the time and the playback information: Artist, title, time, bitrate, IP ... (Volumio and LMS Dietpi)
Digital Interface
The RaspDigi integrates digital interface Audiophonics Digipi + I2S. The latter is directly installed on the Raspberry Pi via GPIO and operates with a Wolfson WM8804G interface and audio isolation transformer Pulse PE-65612.
The card ensures proper digital audio interfacing for any audio file submitted through the inputs of the Raspberry Pi, with sampling rates of up to 192kHz 16-bit. It provides a high-level digital output on Coaxial & BNC for easy integration.
Connection
The RaspDigi offers full connectivity in order to offer easy integration and compatibilitty with many other devices. Raspberry Pi has 4-port USB-A 2.0, a Micro SD port, an Ethernet port and an audio / video remote HDMI output. DigiPi + has Coaxial SPDIF audio output and BNC.
The USB ports accept all kinds of compatible devices such as:
- Hard disk or USB Key
- WiFi USB Dongle
- External USB DAC
- Keyboard, mouse ...
The device is powered by a DC 5.5 / 2.1mm connector. It comes with its wall adapter (SMPS) 7.5V 2.9A 22W max.
Software
Developped as a open system, RaspDigi comes without any operating system installed. You are free to choose and install the one that will best suit your needs. Some features require the installation of custom scripts to work if you do not want a pre-installed image:
Power management functions use a Python script to install. (Or plugin Manual available under Volumio)
The OLED screen works with a dedicated script that only runs under Volumio and LMS (Dietpi).
Currently we recommend using Volumio which offers both very good audio performance and a simple, intuitive interface. Above all, Volumio is accessible from any device connected via a web interface.
Volumio can play files from a NAS on the network via UPnP source or from a local storage like a hard drive or USB key. It also provides access to Internet-based radio, and has a Spotify plugin. It also supports the DLNA protocol to control the player from an application like Bubble UPNP, which itself is able to read many audio-streams, and even has a Qobuz plugin. Airplay is also supported.
If you need a ready-to-use player, please consider buying an SD card including a pre-configured Software with every necessary plugins to drive RaspDigi functions. Beginners in particular are strongly advised to take a pre-mounted software card.
Indeed in order to install and set this type of material from scratch, one needs good knowledge of Linux & Raspberry Pi framework.
