Sonic Imagery Labs' model 992ENH-TICHA is a high-performance, single discrete operational amplifier (OPA) designed for professional audio applications and areas where ultra-low noise, low distortion and highly linear, uncolored operation are required. The 992ENH-TICHA discrete OPA achieves a new standard of noise excellence with a measurement at 0.89nV/Rt.Hz (@ 1kHz). This very low noise is combined with excellent high-speed specifications, extremely low output distortion and precision parameters (offset voltage greater than 200µV, open-loop voltage gain of 118dB). Although the 992ENH-TICHA input stage operates at close to 1mA to ensure low voltage noise, the input bias current remains below 1µA.
The 992ENH-TICHA's fully discrete SMT design uses a pair of highly accurate matched differential transistors to meet the requirements of ultra-low noise and THD audio systems. In addition to the enhanced input stage, the 992ENH-TICHA uses high-precision, temperature-stable, supply-independent current sources. Supply-independent current sources ensure that the bias remains locked at the optimum operating point, regardless of supply voltage or temperature. The low-distortion Class A output stage can absorb or supply 150mA, enabling this module to drive transformers with ease. Each amplifier is tested for noise, offset and distortion, and meets or exceeds published specifications.
