DAYTON AUDIO RSS315-PR

Passive Radiator 21Hz Ø 30.4cm

radiateur dayton audio haute fidélité sub

The RSS315-PR from Dayton Audio is a 30.4cm diameter passive radiator from the Reference Series range. It will allow you, combined with an active speaker, to enjoy a richer sound in the low frequencies and potentially extend the bandwidth of your speaker.

This one has an excellent quality of manufacture, with a membrane in Anodized Aluminium and a frame in Cast iron, just like the subwoofers of the same range. Thus, they are visually similar and will integrate perfectly together.

Each passive radiator uses the unique SMS (Sandwiched Mass Structure) design to maintain the majority of the mass centered between the suspension and the spider, ensuring good linearity. The mass of the RSS315-PR can also be adjusted to suit most subwoofers, thanks to the weights supplied.

Passive radiator : How it works ?

The passive radiator must be integrated in a box with an active loudspeaker. This passive radiator, although at first it may look like a "classic" loudspeaker, does not in fact have any engine part. Thus, one will not find in its design of coil, magnet and power supply. Similarly, it will not be electrically connected to a power amplifier.

To diffuse sound, the passive radiator will use the air pressures and depressions induced by the active loudspeaker in the body to vibrate its membrane and produce sound, thus providing deep bass. Its resonance frequency is determined by its mass and the air contained in the enclosure. The resonance frequency can therefore be varied on many models and tuned to the speaker by adding mass.
